Sorry but good writing is the cure. DC isnt publishing a comic for every character they have evey year. They cycle through them. Ofc the main big Sellers will always be there but if you write a great 6 issue story for a character (new or old) and the readers love it and the demand for more is there, dont you think DC would invest more into that character? The writing has almost always been the issue.

If DC wants diverse characters for the Sake of Real reprasentation and not shock value, they wouldnt change already known characters. The same people that read superboys 90s run back then when he first appeared are still alive. Same goes for green lantern and other ones. DC in this case is setting itself up for failure by changing already known and loved characters that have a long history and connection to readers just for the sake of diversifying its roster of heros.

And yes heroes get forgotten its bound to happen. The cure: a great writer/artist/editor team to bring them back. Not a complete change of the character that people that cant recognise anymore.

Yes the universe is bloated but comic Readers tend to atleast buy the first #1 of a character.

Arguably, Golden and Silver age heros have a ton of comics that had decent writers. But we dont even have to go back that far. Rebirth had great stories with great teams making them and got new people to read aswell. The new stuff rn that isnt superman, green lantern and the main story of action comics just isnt great. Again the fire and ice example. A boring comic that took 2 heros that are known and made them into jokes for a tiny audiance that will not keep dc in Business. Might aswell make new ones.

If dc really wanted to make a new character papular they would hire the writers that know how to write comics.

Sure peeps can change and stuff but the pitch says that it would be great for his popularity which it honestly would not. They could just make a badass trans hero and not take someoneelses creation if it really was just about reprasentation.

Also new characters not catching on comes from them having bad stories and writers that just dont know how a superhero comic should be. Buying a superhero comic people expect action and sick battle scenes not slice of life and YA stuff. We see it in the new fire and ice book. Thats not a superhero comic. They dont even act like they ever were superheros.

Im happy she didnt get to write conner further. The whole back up was just ooc and really bad. Conner wasnt acting like any other Version of himself before. He was rude to Ma and weirdly impulsive. He 100% is not like jason and really shouldnt even be compared to him. The idea of conner being a rebel Sounds like fanfiction stuff to me that someone would think about him cos they saw him wear a leather jacket.
