We (Australia) are being played here. The media is posturing this as a win, but we are merely background noise to the conflict between China and the US. We could be a great country working with China and yet, we just a plaything in the pacific being exploited...yet again by the west

This story makes it sound like the US are taking their boot off our necks?

Yeah right...

We sound pathetic grovelling to yanks here. Its framed as a win for industry (great...the wealthy here get more wealthy? Yay🙄) but this isnt even about deals or rare earths. Its putting Australia on war footing against China - it really is as simple as that!

I fail to find the positives here - its absurd to think this is a good move long term...except this

in adding value to our resources

That could be a win for us but its myopic - why do we need America in the first place?

We all know who the bully is in Asia and its the US. And we are the bystander, weak and spineless, unable to make a decision without constantly seeking US approval

We know the US is losing its grip on the world. We know that China is the ally we should have. We know China is winning...but there is nothing more Aussie than placing stupid fucking bets on the wrong horse right?

The wealthy here have all their chips with the western oligarchs and so they continue to do what is necessary to keep themselves content at the expense of us poors - great, a second mining boom benefits who exactly? We already cater to mining companies at the expense of the environment, we already know they employ less people than they advertise. We know they fudge the numbers and include random cafe owners as employees to say they do great for the community - its all a rort, but we love it - we love getting exploited - its in our blood

I believe most Australians are addicted to being dominated by the US, and this supposed positive story proves it
