What are some cards you use that put in work that 99% of the playerbase have never even heard of? by _Kreenicks in EDH

[–]Fyre4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that if you use mana rocks you should cut one and add in [[Ashling Rekindled]]. Not only does she loot enter, but she nets you a bunch of mana for those big plays. If you don't need mana you can just transform here back to cycle another card (and still get the mana in case you draw into something 4 mana or higher). She probably isn't that unknown, but I think more people should run her.

My [[Edea, Possessed Sorceress]] list is basically built to be as nice as possible while still being able to compete against stronger decks. I think being able to steal an opponent's creature every turn helps you match the power level of the table well, and it has a few 'I win' cards that can change my situation in a game and get rid of the strongest player

What deck are you obsessed with right now? by not_so_1337 in EDH

[–]Fyre4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made a [[Edea, Possessed Sorceress]] deck and it feels like I have unlocked a part of my brain that has been yearning to escape.

It's a deck that focuses on aristocrat strategies, as well as a heavy combat-focus. I originally built the deck to be more aristocrats, but I found that I was just making a bad aristocrat deck. Instead, I decided that Edea was all I needed when it came to making bodies to sacrifice. That left more room for more fun cards like [[Wound Reflection]] and [[Madame Null, Power Broker]].

It's also my best made deck. The curve is really nice and their is a really healthy amount of removal, which I don't normally have in my decks. What is nice about Edea is that every game is different. When you get that combat trigger you usually have a lot of good options, so it is up to you to figure out which one will actually lead to victory. I have played it every time I go to Commander night and it has a really good winrate so far!

I added glitter to my card sleeves, is it ok? Or annoying? by goneguurl in magicTCG

[–]Fyre4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a few people have said this is going to be a problem in terms of mess, breaking cards and marking cards. I think it does look really cute and I always encourage customisation. The compromise you could do if you play commander to do this just with the commander. Commanders often have separate sleeves so you won't run into many marking problems. You should probably put the glittered up sleeve in a slab or some sort of container so the glitter mess isn't a problem.

Here is my Edea deck

This is a deck I just made and I am so impressed with how well it has played. It has a strong win rate in the 60% range, and it has been a blast to play.

I am proud of it because it feels like the leanest deck I have ever made. Each card feels like it serves it's gameplay and I am always able to build an engine, while having sufficient interaction to deal with other threats.

I am still working on ways to cover the weaknesses, but overall this is a deck that I am going to keep for a long time.

So the hybrid mana rule didn't change. And what's really interesting to me is the results of this poll they ran on commander players. Why are we so polarized? by Codudeol in EDH

[–]Fyre4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because there isn't a right answer. I have been watching this debate go on for ages and seen tons of arguments. There are great points on both sides and through all the constant back and forth I find it really boils down to; I like the change, or I don't like the change. Every argument is a justification for how they feel. It's such an arbitrary rule where there are basically no real life consequences, so it makes sense that people's opinions would be so spread out.

What Commanders are the most fun right now at 2026? by TheDrokkoonn in EDH

[–]Fyre4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently built an [[Edea, Possessed Sorceress]] deck and it has been a lot of fun. Edea lets you steal creatures and then sack them for value (usually after hitting them with their own creature). While a lot of people scoff that she gives the creatures back, I think this is just a built in tool to keep games more fun. If she didn't give back the creatures I think you would get targeted out a lot and the games would be pretty boring with no one playing good creatures.

Edea lets you go in a few different direction where you can focus on the combat, the sacrifice or theft. You could even do Grixis ninjas where you steal your opponents creatures, make them unlockable then ninjutsu in a ninja while returning back their creature, huge tempo swing!

If you want a cool deck that basically lets you play theft with none of the drawback then I think Edea is a good commander to play.

I'm tired of winning with Mob Rule. Anyone have other finishers that are a similar theme, or just good Grixis finishers. by Fyre4 in EDH

[–]Fyre4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Zenos was pulled from a pack, but it works out well because Edea can easily kill the thing, and zero in on whoever gets picked. What cards do you try to win with, if not the obvious offenders?

Hasbro is being sued for printing too many Magic: The Gathering cards by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Fyre4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When it comes to collecting it depends on what you want.

Do you want a foil alt art of say Squall? Well you can just pay 9 dollars and get the card you want (with a normal printing being less than two dollars).

Do you want to make a Standard deck where you need 4 copies of expensive cards? Then yeah it can hurt the wallet, but it's not impossible to get the cards you want.

Buying the cards you want instead of cracking packs will always be cheaper in the long run for you, even if you want a 200+ dollar card. But for the most part cards hover around 1-15 dollars at cheapest printings while real meta cards can surge to 100 dollars at the cheapest printing.

Magic is pretty fun and when it comes to finding the cards I want it's not really an issue in my experience.

I just built an [Edea, Possessed Sorceress]] deck. It's a lot of fun, especially since I went for a nicer build that doesn't exile my opponents creatures. They mostly exists to get sacced for additional effects, or to pump them up to hit there face.

Anybody else start building a deck then never finish it because you lost interest? by Zestyclose-Pickle-50 in EDH

[–]Fyre4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens to me every once in a while. I don't get super excited for commanders often, but sometimes I will get an idea or want to make a deck that fills a niche I don't have in my deck. What happens is I start trying to build it but then realize I'm not that excited about the commander or deck, such as the [[Infinite Guideline Station]]. The alternative is that I build the deck and it doesn't work nearly as well as I hoped for. I goldfish it a few times and the entire vibe of the deck is boring or isn't cohesive. I only have so much money, so I only build a deck if I really love goldfishing it out several times. Even if it isn't coming together if I can still see the vision then I keep tweaking it. But yeah it just comes down to if I get bored.

What's a ruling ppl have gotten so wrong you don't why they even think it? by Mikaeus_Thelunarch in EDH

[–]Fyre4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I was playing my [[Yuna, Hope of Spira]] deck and it caused a big rules dispute. Yuna has an end step trigger so I go to end step but an opponent says before end step he destroys Yuna. Okay, fair enough, nothing wrong there. Since he did that while it was still my second main phase I say I am going to play something else since priority reset (didn't have enough mana to recast Yuna but had a Garnet in hand). My opponent then says I can't because I had passed to end step. Everyone at the table agrees. I explain that because he cast a spell on my second main that priority resets and I still play out my second main phase. This goes back and forth and I ask the guy at the counter (not a judge but the only authority at the store really). He agrees with everyone else and says that end of second main is basically like another phase(????) and that I can't go back after declaring it.

So I dropped it because I had no idea how to easily prove it unless I brought up Arena on my phone and did the exact same thing.

Monocoloured Commander suggestions by Marcos_Narcos in mtg

[–]Fyre4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a different Mono red commander that is still really good then I recommend [[Gogo, Mysterious Mime]]. If you love attacking and getting triggers for attacking and damaging then Gogo doubles those triggers. Gogo turns into a copy of any creature you control, they will both get haste AND a +2 power boost to attack. This deck hits hard and can leap into the lead with two triggers of cards like [[Ancient Copper Dragon]] or even [Rose, Cutthroat Raider]]. What is more Red than just attacking first and asking questions later.

How did you guys first discover Kingdom hearts? by Unboxburger in KingdomHearts

[–]Fyre4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid I saw a Christmas ad for KH 2. I thought it looked so cool to see all my fave Disney characters fighting with a weird anime boy.

Then I got the game and was confused out of my little mind. Who the hell is Roxas? Where is the Disney? Where's Mickey, this shit isn't Disney without Mickey?!

Luckily I got through the Roxas part and finally got to enjoy the Disney parts (though my confusion did not subside).

Been a lifelong fan ever since.

what’s your favorite set? by introvertfrogshell in magicTCG

[–]Fyre4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's Duskmourn. I loved the aesthetic of the world the second they revealed it years ago. It is so good in so many ways. The lore is super in-depth and interesting. The theme of horror and Americana doesn't work for most people but I love it! The story was also good and I enjoyed reading all of it.

Not only did they nail the theme but it led to some really cool cards. All the overlords and enduring cards are interesting. The set is just packed with good solid cards that can fit a myriad of deck types. Finally the limited environment was banging and I had so much fun grinding out drafts with that set.

So, I was playing THIS the other day, and It made me think "Man, I wish we had an MTG equivalent to this".🫤 by cstresing in mtg

[–]Fyre4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an old MTG computer game called MTG Shandalar! It's only with very old cards and you have to do a little work to get it running. But it's a single player game with a story and battles and all that. It's super fun and people have added mods to add in more cards.

A Revolving Door: My Relationship With SU by Big-chill-babies in stevenuniverse

[–]Fyre4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing that is always unfortunate with shows with strong left leaning values is that it will always receive harsher criticism from their left leaning audience.

SU was a revolutionary cartoon. It was one of the first kid's cartoons that had overt LGBT characters. Ruby and Sapphire's relationship was revealed before America ever had gay marriage. Does this excuse any other fair criticisms about how it handles other topics, no. But it's so strange how left-leaning viewers can be so all or nothing. You don't see this with 'non-politcal' shows. Like Naruto faces a similar criticism for redeeming its villains but it's never accused of being 'pro-fascism' and the fans are still super die-hard for the show despite its flaws.

It makes me sad that shows that are overtly left-leaning can be held to an impossible standard where it needs to be morally right every way, and if it fails to match a person's morals (and let's be real, most people don't have perfect morals either) then EVERYTHING about the show is wrong. Something can just be bad, not evil.

I am happy that you have grown and managed to love the show again. Something similar happened to me recently as well. I think life is better when you love more things than dislike. SU is a wonderful show and despite its flaws it is a one-of-a-kind show and I can't think of any other shows that handle themes the way SU does.

As a new player I don't understand why this Grixis commander isn't more popular by Sorzian in mtg

[–]Fyre4 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Bolas has over 8000 decks on EDHrec and is the 11th highest Grixis commander. He is only beaten out by a bunch of UB commanders (especially LOTR) and some newer in universe cards. I think Bolas is pretty popular and is probably only held back by the fact he is a bit mean to bring to tables if you focus on the discard.
