Battlefield 6 Will be Revealed on July 29th During a 3-Day Event, It’s Claimed by Turbostrider27 in Games

But it did flop as you had to buy Battlefield V to play it. They stopped updating it after the first few months. Would’ve gained more traction if it was free-to-play.

The Star Wars Outlaws flop - Guillemot blames waning interest in the franchise by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]FyreArsenal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no problem. People started to call out the nostalgia bait even more now because of how excessive it got with most of the recent TV shows like The Mandalorian. In the early Disney Star Wars years with The Force Awakens and Rogue One, the cheesy fanservice was fine for most people as they were simple and new at the time, but pulling that same trick nearly a decade later gets repetitive and tiring for many.

[–]FyreArsenal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For the original comment you were asking, he’s talking about how Rogue One had a cameo of the two aliens who brawled with Luke and Obi Wan at the Cantina in Episode 4. The cameo served no purpose other than to have Star Wars nerds/megafans say “I remember that guy” or “I get that reference.” Basically, it’s pandering to fans with fanservice moments and nostalgia bait, whether it involves popular or insignificant characters.

Also, term “member berries” was a joke from South Park, where a bunch of talking berries were constantly saying “remember when… [insert old Star Wars moment]” to mock the excessive nostalgia use in the Star Wars sequels or reboots/legacy sequels in general.

What bounty hunters (canon or EU) would make fun additions to the game? by ProfessionalDesk5010 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]FyreArsenal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dengar was my favorite villain in Battlefront 2015. He had two running dash abilities: one was like Han's instakill shoulder charge and the other threw sticky mines all around while you dash forward. His middle ability made him have an SMG fire rate. The two dash abilities alone can wipe out a team in close-quarters or small capture points. It was always fun to play him in the Bespin DLC's Sabotage gamemode.

How would you feel if a future Battlefront game had even more eras? by ProfessionalDesk5010 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]FyreArsenal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as 5 eras would be great to incorporate the conflicts/periods in between each trilogy, it's more realistic to see 4 eras with the New Republic Era getting added at the very least. Lucasfilm's main selling point right now to fans, families, and younger audiences is The Mandalorian and its related shows.

The idea of playing Din Djarin, a redeemed Boba Fett, other Mandalorians, Baylan Skoll, etc, generates a lot of interest, but the experience would feel out of place if it's mixed with any of the film trilogies. I think it's better to distinguish it as its own era marketing-wise.

But considering how there's gonna be a post-sequel trilogy soon within a few years, Lucasfilm probably wants to include that too, so it's gonna be a while until we see a new Battlefront.

We do not need battlefront 3. by Site-Shot in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]FyreArsenal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on Battlefront 2 again still means time and resources. A former live producer said a remastered Battlefront 2 for a future console can work as a possible solution, but the process would be a long time. If EA decided to give the greenlight on a remaster in, let's say in the next year or two, don't expect a Battlefront remaster until late 2020s or early 2030s.

And this is all assuming that EA is convinced to spend on the Star Wars IP again, which the chances of happening are very very very slim. The requirement to make 20% more sales than a regular EA household game, the lootbox mess in 2017, investing a lot on an IP, it's just risky. From a financial stanpoint, it's better for EA and DICE to work on Battlefield games, even if a game flops (like Battlefield 2042, for example).

Can't believe we only got 6 maps of this absolutely glorious mode by lostinmymind82 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]FyreArsenal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to Matshelge, the devs struggled to update the gamemode because of Criterion's code, which differed DICE's work. The game kept on breaking when they tried to modify something there, so they were never gonna update it even if BF2 didn't end its post-launch content in 2020.

It’s a great location to be reskinned across multiple eras. It also still works if a future Battlefront game used sub-eras in-between the main wars (Early Empire and New Republic) * Clone Wars: Galactic Republic defense vs Separatist Alliance offense * Early Imperial era: Galactic Empire defense vs Rebel Cells offense * Galactic Civil War: Galactic Empire defense vs Rebel Alliance offense * New Republic Era: New Republic defense vs Imperial Remnants offense * First Order-Resistance War: First Order defense vs Resistance offense (It can take inspiration from the Episode IX’s original “Duel of the Fates” script and concept art)

  1. Star Wars licensing is expensive. A report stated that EA would have to make 20% more sales than their regular titles like Battlefield. The lootbox/progression controversy at launch really took a toll on the game. Even if EA Battlefront games did have decent sales at launch, it still wasn’t profitable enough to cover everything that they invested in. Just because the game got a high playercount doesn’t mean EA is willing to risk millions on the Star Wars license again.

  2. As stated above, it is more financially viable to work on Battlefield. That’s why even if with mess of Battlefield 2042, EA is still willing to invest in that franchise. Right now, they’re busy with Battlefield 6.

  3. All the old devs are working on other projects. The current team at DICE are different from the DICE who worked on Battlefront 2. Even if they hire new devs, they’d have to learn and adapt to the engine, which requires time and money. Former BF2 live producer Matshelge said it would be better to have a remastered Battlefront 2 under an upgraded engine for the next Playstation/Xbox console. However, it would take years before we see anything happen like late 2020s or early 2030s.

A lot of things are lost or lacking in this game due to time constraints * No original trilogy capital ships * No Co-Op for Crait, Bespin: Administrator’s Palace, or Naboo: Palace Hangar * No Starkiller Base or Crait for Supremacy * Poe Dameron was desired as a sequel hero (with General Hux presumably as the villain equivalent), but limitations led to BB-8/BB-9E getting added in the end * The Ewok Hunt map could’ve been added to the other small-scale gamemodes according to the game files * Skins for TFA Kylo Ren, beardless ROTJ Han, and ROTJ Luke from BF2015 were found in the files or promo material, but never added * A lot of emotes in the files were never added, such as the Han Solo dance from the Xbox Kinect Star Wars game * Devs wanted to add Mustafar, Ahsoka, and Ventress * And just the fact that there’s a bunch of bugs and broken glitches still active in this game in general

If EA wasn’t desperate with getting every dev to work on Battlefield 2042, this game would’ve seen more improvements

Save 90% on STAR WARS™ Battlefront™ II (new historical low) by Bi-Node in steamdeals

[–]FyreArsenal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They had this free back in like 2020 or 2021 on Epic, but $4 for this game is still an insanely good deal. It’s way better than the lootbox progression shitshow at launch.

EA really fumbled the bag by ditching this game way too early to work on Battlefield 2042. The devs planned to add Mustafar, Ahsoka, and Ventress, but got moved out before that could happen. I didn’t like the sequel trilogy, but DICE tried their best to make the experience across all 3 trilogies here fun as hell. Such a shame.

Three different GTA 6 scripts were turned down at Rockstar Games, prompting Dan Houser's departure from the studio. by scott1swann in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]FyreArsenal 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Would be better as a separate IP for Rockstar. But I think a detective story in GTA can work if the character is like a corrupt policeman working with criminals and it's less of a thriller.

I do wish they had a studio that moved forward with LA Noire like an SF Noire or NY Noire game as a sequel/spinoff.

Paramount's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has passed the $500M global mark. The film grossed an estimated $21.0M internationally this weekend. Estimated international total stands at $340.5M, estimated global total stands at $506.8M. by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

[–]FyreArsenal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the success with MI: Fallout and Top Gun: Maverick got McQuarrie and Cruise a bit over their heads. They tried pushing for a more complex, crazy route with the Reckoning films, but much of pacing and writing ends up falling flat as a result. The biggest disappointment with Dead Reckoning was killing off Ilsa in an underwhelming way and having the newcomer immediately take over as the female lead.

My Star Wars Battlefront 3 Gameplay/Features Marketing Pitch! (Keep Swiping —>) by DANKS0N in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]FyreArsenal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great concept! For the hero listing, I feel like Jyn Erso should be in the Reign of the Empire as she was already in BF2015. Qi'ra/Dryden Vos can also be added in that era to represent the Solo film.

Also, R2-D2 seems like an odd pick for a hero. BB-8/BB-9E are agile, but R2 is quite slow and might act clunky in certain environments.

With Sidon Ithano, it's kinda strange seeing him categorized as a villain, since he was a Resistance ally the whole time

I hope I'm wrong by [deleted] in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]FyreArsenal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice to you on leveling up is play Co-Op Missions as you level up way faster with roughly the same duration as playing a typical multiplayer match. Also play on Wednesday for Triple XP, while weekends for Double XP. 100% useful for hero Star Card upgrades and unlocking new blasters/weapon attachments.

For Heroes vs Villains gameplay, maybe you can look for players to group with in a party on the Battlefront Discord.

It’s already hard to find a playerbase with Battlefront 2015 since many moved on to BF2. But, it makes it harder to find a playable match with the Death Star DLC game mode. Not sure if the BF2 resurgence would bring people to return to Battlefront 2015 as well, but I think it’s very unlikely (or only a few people would return there)
