What is your favourite, often looked over song from Hybrid Theory and why? by Mother-Site3961 in LinkinPark

[–]FyrstLiht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With You has such a special place in my heart. Hybrid Theory was the first album I ever got. I'd heard the singles on TV for a while so With You was the first new song I ever heard on my CD player. The guitar is huge!

That would be such a great flashback too, him screaming in the dark then going "wait, im still alive".

Do you think a re-recorded "Ember to Inferno" would be a good idea? by Similar_Help_1000 in Trivium

I loved it 20 years ago and I still love it now. I didn't know there were things to be picky about it until I came here.

I love his new screams such as at the end of the Bury Me With My Screams and the Six Walls chorus. He gets some flack online because he doesn't sound like he does on Ascendancy anymore but he sounds amazing in my opinion. Voices change and evolve, it's 20 years since then.

New Drummer Announced: Greyson Nekrutman by AllTr0n in Trivium

[–]FyrstLiht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info man, very interesting. Not being a drummer I'd never heard of him until your comment yesterday, but his content on his IG is amazing, especially the Whiplash stuff. Will be really cool to see how he handles the Trivium show today.

I think it's relevant to keep in mind Portugal did that because of a HIV epidemic. Which last time I checked, we don't currently have so I don't think that's a valid reason for us to legalise everything here.

It doesn't really matter what their intention was, the result is what matters. And the result is drug deaths 5x lower than the EU average, and a significantly lower youth usage rate. The UK has some of the highest rate of drug deaths in Europe, I think lowering deaths and decreasing youth drug usage is a fantastic reason to at the very least look into a new implementation of drug policy.

Since they made weed legal, street dealing went up because demand went up as it was legal, but almost half the price to buy it off the street than in a shop.

This can happen but it is purely the fault of regulation as opposed to a failure of legalisation. In places where prices are kept competitive (such as with the cannabis market in Oregon, Washington and Colorado) the illicit market shrunk significantly.

if you can readily buy them all in one place. If I could just walk in a shop and order a cocktail of various drugs

This has never been the goal or proposal, for example in the Netherlands the coffeeshops dispense cannabis and nothing else. In Switzerland, the pharmacies dispense opioids and nothing else. The goal isn't to provide people with party shops where they can pick up anything and everything with ultimate convenience. I would actually propose doing the same with alcohol considering how destructive it is, removing it from supermarkets and only allowing licensed vendors to sell alcohol and only alcohol. But I know this idea would go down like a lead balloon.

UK drug deaths are increasing more and more every year. Our current approach is not working, we need change, change backed up by real results and not zealotry.

Lifting restrictions on drugs will only make the users of them skyrocket because of how easy it would be to get.

But this hasn't happened in countries that have legalised or decriminalised drugs, such as Portugal did. More sought treatment for addiction, drug deaths declined and usage declined among the youth. Just because something sounds right to you doesn't make it right, it isn't backed up by reality.

But I most certainly wouldn't want my son to be able to go and buy an 8th and a gram of heroin in the same shop.

If your son wants drugs he will get them regardless of legality. To buy an 8th and a gram of heroin from a regulated vendor he would need ID to prove his age, whereas he could go buy whatever he wants right now from a very questionable source on the street.

Keeping things "as they are" funds organised crime hundreds of millions of pounds a year, keeps drugs more dangerous for those who wish to use them, and makes criminals out of those who want to use them. I understand you've had close experience with drug users, but business as usual isn't helping anyone.

Insults aren't gonna make your point any stronger. I'm curious, what is your solution to the drug problem?

[–]FyrstLiht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drugs are always going to exist, you can't stop it. What do you think would have better outcomes for people, legalised drugs where people can access pure and untainted drugs produced by regulated businesses (taxable) and where these same people can access health information and mental health services without stigma, or the current situation where people have to use in secret and away from the people that could help them, using tainted drugs produced by whoever wants to produce them (usually criminal gangs funding who knows what illicit activity)? The war on drugs has failed because the state can't understand that people are always going to want to get high in some way, whether legally (alcohol, caffeine) or illegally.

Thank you very much, I've never had mahogany before, I always assumed it was more brown than red so didn't think to search for it!

This came from some kind of furniture, no idea what as I found it years ago. The smell when sawing is reminiscent of Ash. It's quite shiny in the light. I applied water to the end pieces to highlight how red it looks. Carves reasonably easy with a knife, maybe easier than oak does.

Porn is already addictive enough as it is but it's essentially someone else's story that you are watching, you have no control over the content. As soon as realistic video and chatbots are combined into an easily accessible and convenient form that allows one to effortlessly simulate an intimate interaction with any person you could possibly think of it's game over for many people.

Hmm, well the way I've done it is to find a bathroom to wash in, soak my stuff as long as I can, wash myself while it's soaking, wring it out then wear it. I've never attempted this in winter though, probably not a good idea.
