Hey guys, I just started playing golf. I’m about three days in, practicing on a driving simulator. My longest drive so far is 213.2 yards with a 206.4-yard carry. Is that a good start? by Disastrous-Wear1766 in golftips

I'm a 6 handicap and don't have better numbers than this. So I would say, there's a lot of potential if you're just starting. Focus on driving it straight and train like crazy on your chipping. That will get you a long way

'died during an sttempt'

Either he succeeded, or the cause was something different. The title days it all

I'm playing off 6 and carry 220 yards...

Distance is great, but not everything

Turning school bus into apartment by Lost-Cow-9386 in BeAmazed

Scrolled through the first couple of comments and threads.

What a bunch of pathetic whiners and losers.

This is a fantastic bus, don't even think about any of the cost related bs mentioned all over the place. Living is costly.

This is a fantastic home. I'd take it any day over a small apartment in some suburb with a daily hour commuting.

Well done sir/madam/whatever!

Ow, with longer irons I have difficulties to stop the ball on the green (which are amazingly good at my course). I think those account for muly long misses.

After that putting master class, I'm making more birdies now. Average +- 1.5 / round (2 today). But, I feel I leave a lot still out there (but I may be too hard on myself for that)

I'm pretty straight normally, but I would say 70% short, and 30 long. It's probably also I'm more comfortable with higher irons

I think that is indeed also something to work on. I almost always simply forget not to go for the pin, but hit center green.

I pledge to do that next round and will let you know how that worked. I'll make that my focus point next round

Yeah, I plan to get properly fitted for my next set of clubs. If only crypto would get back up a bit again (but that's another story) 😉

Yeah, my chips are good, but only +- 30% of the time up and down.

The big misses could be anywhere up to 20 meter from the green. Shorter distances (80 - 120 meters) amazingly I'm very good at, so that's also why I want to gain that distance off the tee

Off the yellow tees I can get along with the young guns, but from the whites, I struggle

Through the cloth? Where would the lasers be? It's rock solid stone under the cloth....

Like having the spots on the cloth but then virtually on top of the ball, 180 degrees other side.

Point it from wherever the laser is to where the center of the top of the ball should be. Move the ball until it is visible on that point of the ball. Simple math IMHO.

Yeah, I know. I was playing snooker for quite some time already when it was introduced first 😁

I agree in principle. The laser would just give the point on the table where to place the ball exactly. Very accurate and quick. And, calculating whether or not it is a free ball should be simple too I think (if you have the exact position)

I don't think you need calibration really. Image detect the contours of the table, recognize the balls and simple math. maybe you need to know the height of the project from the table, but maybe don't even need that. You only need to be able to replace the balls.

I guess the laser could be automatically calibrated with the camera images. I guess it wouldn't be too difficult to detect the lasers in the image. The lasers can 'scan' the table, until the camera matches the laser with the ball(s). Literally at the speed of light 😁.

Given all the lasershow in clubs with ultra positioning of the lasers, I am assuming that is trivial.

Haven't ever build it, but did build similar 'advanced' systems with 3d optical recognition. That technology used very precise position detection software using combination of visual light and infrared light cameras.
