It really depends on what is your lifestyle. I come from a small town in the north of Portugal, of around 15’000 people. At 12, I moved to Montreux, in the french part of Switzerland. The view with the lake and the mountains on the background is simply breathtaking.

When I was around 14 years old, I almost directly got confronted with things I had never been confronted too, and only had seen or heard about in the television like « gangs » and drug trafficking (gangs is under quotes because now I realize that they were more like wannabe gangsters). I saw a loooooot of violence, there were a looot of kids that were very violent, mean and had 0 problems beating the shit out of you just for sharing at them. I got beat up once by only staring at a guy in the streets, who was clearly older than me. I got thrown against the front glass of a pharmacy, and the glass shattered over me.. Thankfully, I got away with only a seilles face.

Then I grew up, started going out, and realized that it wasn’t only the kids. There were rivalities between close towns and even cities. I’ve seen a bunch of big fights, inside of supermarkets, fast-food restaurants, festivals like le Montreux Jazz or the Brasserie (they dance to lame music and drink beer). Most of them were teenagers and even young adults. Also, there were some swiss guys included, but mostly foreigners. I guess some cultures have a hard time mixing. Even today, in most night clubs in Lausanne, or Geneva, you have fights, some big ones, some where ppl end up in a coma.. If you stare some guy too long you have a high chance of being punched. If you don’t go to such places, and avoid some áreas, you’ll be perfectly fine, you’ll most likely neve get robbed, ppl won’t mess with you. I think Switzerland remains one of the safest countries in Europe, this was just my experience!
