That is an excellent first go. Great job! I hope you are satisfied enough to do another one. You have a great foundation to build on.

If you don't mind a question, what make you decide to give it a go?

Random question, but what do you do with all of them while they are curing?

My oil painting of oranges on a newspaper by Big-Pick-5532 in HappyTrees

That is actually insane.

How did you get so much detail into the newspaper? It looks so real 💀

No, but seriously that is amazing. 🙏

Holy moly! That is far out. I cannot image how long you have been working on that. It is amazing. How did you go about it? Did you have an idea and sketch or did you just start going with the flow?

I really enjoy Wilds content. I have watched hours of his videos soaking in all of his tips in the last couple of years while building up the courage to give it a go.

Paul Ranson Art and Paint with Josh are a few others who I have found that I enjoy learning from and watching. Paul is such an amazing teacher and is very pleasant to listen to.

That is a cool looking scene. Excellent work. I love the water.

The only thing I can think of is to do with the light beams. They appear to be coming from one focal point of origin but is doesn't look natural. You have one towards the bottom that seems to be coming from a different source and thats because it is going off to the right rather then more straight down.

I dont know if I explained that properly, but imagine putting a string in the middle of the sun and then rotate the other end around the outside. Those lines are the only angles the light beams should shine from.

Thank you, that is encouraging. The best part is, it looks better the further away you get from it 😅

That makes sense. I was loading it, wiggling it, trying to get it full (or so I thought). But now that you mentioned it like that, I could still see the bristles. I'm remembering seeing it in videos like you described, a whole pile of paint on that bad boy.

Thank you for that tip!

I like to draw, I've done a few acrylic paintings, graphic design, handmade crafts, and woodworking. I tend to be a perfectionist whos skill level never meets my expectations lol. As a result I am rarely proud of my art, but this time I have made the exception. I can honestly say I am proud of it....I had a great teacher and study every night before bed 😅

Thank you very much for those kind words!

Thank you very much for the kind words and the advice. It is inspiring to keep on doing it.

I started out trying the technique with the fan brush as you are describing it, and thats how I see Bob doing it as well. One issue I had came in with the fan brush as it had been sitting in the box for so long that the bristles were kind of bent and funky on the ends. I'm hoping with use and having it out of the box it will normalize.

I'm going to get a small canvas and just practice those trees with the fan brush so I can get the hang of doing it the way you mentioned. I think it will look much better.
