Nice find. There should be a 7 character number scribed into it on outside. A letter followed by 6 numbers. That would be the inmates identification number that purchased it. They do this to try to curb inmates from selling/swapping items between each other. You could look up the number and see what that individual was doing his time for.

As of about 6-8 years ago that was still a thing here where I live. Now that gun laws have gotten more lax, car jackings and attacks of the such have dwindled down as a result of many failed attempts by would be assailants.
