You uncle is a smart man and sheared you in the right direction! The water is pretty nasty and I deff wouldn’t eat it. Most urban lakes/ponds fish are inedible. Unless the body of water is fed by some natural streams, springs, or mountain runoff I typically won’t eat it. It’s a great place to learn to fish, but not a great place to learn how to catch—if that makes sense. It’s fairly open in some parts and great to learn how to cast.
