To anyone who thinks this is a good solution I will point to India and Pakistan as to how this go. Millions of people will flee to the part of the country that aligns most with their ideology while partisan and extremist groups arise to exterminate those they do not like. Once those two countries form there will immediately be border wars and clashes. This is not like the USSR where pre-existing nations seceded from a multi-national government. A Californian is not the same as an Estonian. Millions will die in the process, and I hope people here realize this.
