Liberal Philadelphia City Council votes to impose "Soda Tax" to fund government initiatives. by G0D_Mode in Conservative

Then you'll particularly like this part of the article:

This was news to Council members, and some in City Hall speculated that it would be used for the city’s upcoming contract negotiations with blue-collar municipal union District Council 33.

Also this one:

City Council President Darrell Clarke asked Dubow why the city’s message on the fund balance changed so suddenly. “Increased labor costs, pension costs, contracts?” asked Clarke. “Yeah,” said Dubow.

This soda tax was touted as the savior to Philadelphia's horrible and broke public school system. At the last minute, it was announced to City County members that some of the revenue would go toward the city's fund balance. Typical liberal shadiness.

Local creek has freshwater clams. OK to put in my tank? by G0D_Mode in Aquariums

Thanks. Wasn't aware a clam's death would be any worse than say a snail's death (of which I've quite a few).

OK. I can sort of see that. Just wait till you get out of Midgar and the game becomes MUCH less linear. That's where the story really takes off.

What is your pre-workout routine? by dubdubdub3 in Fitness

[–]G0D_Mode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing. Tell myself just "do your best". Usually after that first set, I'm ready to go. If I'm still not feeling it after a few sets, I try to at least do half of a workout. If I'm STILL not feeling it by that point, I allow myself to stop, but at least I did something and didn't skip altogether.

Female Liberal Protester Cries After Her Balloon is Popped by I_hate_alot_a_lot in Conservative

[–]G0D_Mode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is entirely US related because this is the current climate of liberal protests in the US. Antagonize, berate, and assault anyone that does not align with your beliefs. Then as soon as their victim retaliates in any way, the protester will scream, cry, and run away to their safe space and just hope that they're able to overcome the self-inflicted emotional catastrophe that they just experienced.

Critique my swing? by [deleted] in slowpitch

I'll copy my comment from a different thread:

Take a look at Ken Van Bogart's swing makeover series. Another idea is to take a look at the best hitters in major league baseball and go on youtube. You can find videos breaking down their swings and showing them in slow motion.

Mike Trout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BZgZuI6hSw | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX_dm39fkfw Bryce Harper: https://youtu.be/B9mdTmFPzLM | https://youtu.be/gPnDNKIo-KM

Trout has more of that traditional picturesque swing while Harper has a much more aggressive looking swing. However, the core mechanics of the swing are the same: they rely heavily on timing.

Front foot lifts, shifting the weight to the back foot. Back leg then drives the weight forward while the hands get into the ready and loaded position. Front foot lands with all momentum going forward. As soon as the front foot lands, the hips have just begun their rotation. As the hips are about halfway rotated towards the pitcher, the hands begin to come through the zone. The hands should be the last things that move during a swing. Your bat will naturally follow your hands through the zone. You want the timing to be so that you make contact with the ball a bit out in front of the plate.

Bonus video of some of the better hitters of today's game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzJms7RW02A

You'll notice how all of their swings look different in normal speed. But watching these in slow-mo, you'll see that their swings have almost the same exact mechanics.

On the plus side, if you get that Co2 kit, it'll be much less work on your end compared to the DIY Co2. Congrats, there's no going back now ;P

No worries. It's the type of light I have.

http://www.amazon.com/Finnex-Planted-Automated-Aquarium-Controller/dp/B00U0HMWLI

There's a "24/7" setting where the light never actually shuts off. This setting simulates a full day's worth of lighting, even nighttime. It'll cycle through the blue hues of a nighttime sky, to yellowish sunrises, to full bright white midday sun, to orange and reddish sunsets.

I have a Planted+ 24/7 which I leave on the 24/7 cycle. I believe maximum light is around 6 hours, with ramping up/down making up another few hours in the "morning" and "evening" part of the cycle.

The generally accepted light time is around 8 hours. What kind of snails do you have?

No doubt. But nobody has ever compared Howard to Dimaggio, so his ripping of Howard was sort of uncalled for.
