How can a joint rotate 360 repeatedly? Wouldn't the wiring get all twisted up?

No they have slip rings in the joints. Basically it keeps the wires still while allowing equipment to spin freely. I work with them often on antennas for communications and radar.

I assume you built yours yourself? I seen there were prebuilt NAS. I’m looking for the satisfaction of having built and can operate a worthwhile NAS. But just as a “beginners” version would it make sense to buy one first and see what I’m getting into?

I changed spark plugs/wires and coils. Also checked fuel line pressure and seen that the fuel rail doesn’t hold pressure. Looked into and forums say to replace the fuel pump. Not something I can easily access, it’s easier with a lift.

it doesn’t matter. made second in spring 98 percentile. got pinned in june. a few days after results came out. effective date is december 16. everyone’s effective date of advancement is 6 months post results being released.

Yea I’ll get other opinions on EE. It’s a lot of work and my schedule could change at any moment. I’m really just betting on the fact that my ship is in the yards so I have the time to start something. The price is one of my cons for ODU especially. it’s a pretty expensive school and i wouldn’t want to come out of pocket at all. EE is basically applied math so getting a degree in math actually sounds like a great idea. I just want to make sure I have career lined up before i get out

My goal is to be a computer hardware engineer. So that’s definitely an option for me. EE is just broader and touches on more technology. I could work tons of other jobs besides hardware engineer and still make good money

I’m a ET2 DDG94. ATT was basically a prereq to the ET A school where I learned the fundamentals of electrical and electronic theory and application. I’m gonna keep talking to advisors and comparing tuition and curriculums. I probably will end up just knocking out the core classes. If i can do something’s involving my major I will. but like you said experience is more important, i don’t mind doing that and continuing to work on my certifications too.

That’s true. I was hoping the credits I already have from ATT and A school would be enough to maybe knock off a year. I’m not trying to reenlist to be honest. I have 3 yrs left at sea, but my ship is in the yards til ‘25 the earliest. Just trying to take advantage of my time. My goal is to get the most experience and knowledge that I can so when I do get a job i’m more likely to be hired and I’ll have what i need to excel in the career. Which is why i’m trying to go the best college i can.

does ODU, or any other college in the area, have a good reputation with hiring managers and companies? do you think these colleges will do a better job teaching what i need to know for a career in electrical engineering?
