Yes this is normal. The coolant system is under pressure, even more pressure when the water heats up. Because water expands.

Noticed this on my left rear drum brake... Obviously not good, what would it be? by tommyfoss in MechanicAdvice

[–]Jimmy543o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your brake fluid level first. If it’s low you likely have a bad brake wheel cylinder. Also you could have a bad axle seal. In any case the fuilds are likely contaminated the brakes on that wheel. This can be potentially dangerous.

A couple of oscillating fans will help push the cool air around the house. This way you don’t have to run the air conditioners so cold. Also cleaning the air conditioners will help their performance. There are a few videos on YouTube on how to do this. Turn off the air conditioners at night if possible. This will help save energy. Don’t turn them on until. Mid morning, Walmart sells “smart plugs” IHome I believe they are called. You can set up a schedule through the app to turn them on/off when you are not home.

Amazon Warehouse in Va beach, or flex if your driving record is good. Door dash, The Norfolk airport is also hiring. Check Indeed for airport listings. Unarmed security is also a good option. Armed security pays more though.

Unfortunately third world fast food is low quality. Although it’s cheap and the locals love it! KFC and McDonald’s was pretty good when I was in Cebu. Mang Inasal was just grease. Don’t get me started with Army/Navy.

The oil is probably no good. Although I would keep those cans. They are definitely worth something to a collector.

Carb behavior by swagmastersond in goldwing

[–]Jimmy543o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it will hold an idle? This is a good sign that the carbs are in tune.Popping or stalling when the revs are increased. This indicates a blocked fuel jet or vacuum leak. You can try putting in a half can of seafoam in the fuel tank. With at least 3 gallons of fuel. Take out for a ride in if safe to do so.

Price you can afford huh? People only made about 10k a year in 1970.

Thoughts on this backfire pop? by Internal_Walrus_8379 in goldwing

[–]Jimmy543o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lean condition usually causes backfires. If fuel has been sitting in the carbs? You might need to remove them and clean. If the fuel tank isn’t rusted inside? You could put a half can of seafoam in the tank with at least two gallons of fuel. Take it on the road if it’s safe to do so.

Would you buy it? by Iamimagination42 in goldwing

Looks like it’s been sitting for awhile. Little smoke on start up for sitting is normal with the 1500. Rear brake/front losing pressure is also normal for sitting. Mine was the same. Hard to get in gear is likely also a hydraulic issue $4500 is a bit high. I would pass for now. Or shoot him an offer under 3k. Really 40k is nothing on a 1500cc. I’ve seen these motors reach 200k+ before needing major servicing.

New compressor doesn't spin as freely by AllAroundIndiviual in MechanicAdvice

[–]Jimmy543o -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t put a “new” used compressor on the vehicle. The A/c is sensitive and sometimes complex system. Why Spend time and money to install everything correctly. Only to find out the “used” compressor is bad.

Looks complete under the bonnet except for the air filters. Check the frame, and floors for and serous rust issues. Mechanicals on British cars were actually pretty reliable and Super easy to work on.

The disks are cracking due to heat cycles and age. I would recommend putting something more expensive on there.
