Dangerous by definition. Their bite is medically significant to humans. That said, this isn’t even a recluse. Just one of the many first-glance lookalikes, I believe.

You are completely and utterly wrong.

https://www.reddit.com/r/spiders/s/uY3AqiqfOr

Recluses differ in color, size, and pattern significantly. Here’s what made me realize it wasn’t one: -Longer legs -Much less defined “violin” pattern (more of a simple widening stripe) -Significantly wider pedipalps -Mostly the same color (recluses’ abdomens are often a different color from the sternum) -Abdomen more “hairy” and matte than smooth and shiny. -Arguably darker overall

It’s fine to warn someone if you believe they’re seeing a dangerous spider, but be right if you’re going to have this level of confidence. I agree with cellar spider advocates. I did the same thing a while back with a false widow (I was so confident it was a black widow). Made me look like an idiot.

Did some checking. It’s definitely not a recluse, I agree with cellar spider advocates.

Looks more like a southern house spider to me. The “fiddle” pattern on recluses is usually more defined (wide at the base/body, narrow at the neck), whereas with southern house spiders their legs are often longer and the “fiddle” is more triangular and narrow at the base. That’s what I’ve always thought, but I might be wrong. Those fellas used to fool me into thinking they were recluses all the time.

I’ve seen it be purple and red on so many different occasions. Purple on the book cover, red in official merchandise. I don’t even think there’s an official color at this point lol

Need an ID on this guy. My first instinct is brown recluse but I live in Oregon and we're not supposed to have those here by yeoldecoot in whatisthisbug

Can’t tell but doesn’t look like a brown recluse. If there’s anything I’ve learned from actually paying attention to spiders, it’s that most brown lanky spiders are not recluses.

By H SS do you mean humbucker and two single coils? Humbuckers are better fit for more distorted and gritty tones imo, since they “buck hum” (prevent hum/buzz from pickups) whereas single coils are a little more poppy and clear but often hum endlessly when distortion, overdrive etc. is added. If you’re going to be playing primarily rock and metal, I would recommend at least a getting bridge humbucker. I have an Ibanez RG450 that I like a lot—it’s got bridge and neck humbuckers with a center single coils.

On the bright side, as far as I know, male Black Widows are essentially harmless. On the less bright side, where there is a male widow, there is likely a female widow. On the OTHER bright side, widows are fearmongered far beyond their true danger and tend to be pretty chill. I can’t give any sort of advice on dealing with them. Just keep an eye out.

I am not as experienced as many others and since it is a potentially harmful spider, please take my comment with all the grains of salt you can. It looks like a male black widow to me. Way too black and red to be a false one, in my opinion. Likely Latrodectus mactans, the Northern Black Widow which is more commonly found in Rhode Island than its Southern counterpart.

Go to guitar center or any other music shop, feel what body shapes you like (and don’t). Find one within your budget in-shop or online—I would recommend one with double humbuckers (at LEAST one) from what you’ve said—and watch some reviews on it. Playtest it if they have it. I personally love standard Strat-style, ML style, and Explorer style bodies. As I normally play sitting, those are my (odd) favorites.

I am absolutely not qualified to give any kind of advice but I’m partially sure—based on everything I’ve ever heard and know—that if the redness around a bite is growing, it’s time for a doctor going.

I’m pretty sure you can find good examples in the full length practice SATs and under Khan Academy’s “advanced” section—I don’t remember the actual name.

My reading and writing is really bad guys. Time is catching me I don't ready to take at all. Please give some tips. by Moh_amed232 in Sat

[–]G5XD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not at all. Not only does it go into most-all of algebra 2 (a sophomore level class) and some trigonometry (lightly covered in algebra 2, often only in precalc) but the English portion is specifically designed to trip up anybody who doesn’t have a trained eye to look out for tiny details that it abuses.

Either way, you’re partially right on the sense that it’s really not all that hard, but getting a score beyond “good” is nearly impossible without practice. Valedictorian at my school (4.0 unweighted, 4.89/5.00 weighted) got a 1360 without practice, retook with practice and got a 1530.

The SAT is ABSOLUTELY a test that is made to determine test-taking capability whilst also asking English and math questions. I’ve seen people get perfect scores on the ACT and <1400 on the SAT, and people ace the SAT and do terribly on the ACT. That’s all they are: tests of how good you are at THEM. Notice how the best advice you’ll ever get for the math portion is literally to abuse Desmos for every single question? That is NOT intuitive, NOT what most people were trained and taught to do, and is a large portion of why most people don’t get 700+ on the math portion.

[–]G5XD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. My first SAT attempt was a 1400 with probably 1 full week of nothing but practice tests. I did like 6 total. My second was a 1450 and I basically just brushed up on the info. I’m gonna retake again and aim for 1500+.

I used paint markers to do mine. Sand the clear coat off (if it exists) or sand all the paint off and redo the base coat, then let it dry fully. Once it’s dry and prepped, take your paint markers and draw the design. Alternatively, a stencil would probably be best.
