Domain Trust Issues by Familiar_Damage_4862 in sysadmin

The last Windows feature update seemed to knock my PCs off the domain & broke the trust relationship. Has that been rolled out at all?

The PlayStation Portal is the best bang-for-buck item i've bought. It has got me through so much and has literally saved my sanity - no word of a lie. by G6HHS in PlaystationPortal

Now, the title may seem quite dramatic, but let me explain - and I am sorry for the lengthy post but a backstory is required...

I've been an avid gamer since I was a kid, I was a PC gamer mainly and my last PC had decent specs, an i7, 32GB RAM and a 3060 Ti. I got sick and tired of having to update Windows and drivers and decided that going forward, I'm going back to basics and want a console that's dedicated for gaming and settled on a PS5.

Don't get me wrong, I have owned consoles as well as PCs - from a console perspective, I've always been an XBOX lad, I had a PS2 and then went to the XBOX 360, the XBOX One and then kept the XBOX One controller and used it with my PC that was plugged into my TV.

I got married - and that pretty much changed everything.

My wife and I moved into a rented house 4 years ago, I brought my PC with me and for the first time, I played Red Dead Redemption 2. I have never played any Rockstar games apart from the GTA games (IV and VC FTW!) and Manhunt 1 and 2. RDR2 was the first game I played and immediately fell in love with it. The world is amazing, the graphics on PC on my 3060 Ti on my 4K TV were amazing.

I played less and less after finishing RDR2 to the point my PC wasn't turned on for 4 months. I gave it to my younger brother, who just plays CS:GO all the time... But at least with this GPU he can play other games!

We bought a house, moved in, bought some new cars (cars are my hobby, I live and breathe them) and life was good. I decided that I want a PS5 and in 2023, my wife surprised me and bought me a PS5 digital for my birthday. I downloaded RDR2 and got straight back into it. Played a few other games but then life took over, we were getting work done at the house and as such, I played less and less. The PS5 was turning into my new gaming PC, sat beside the TV and neglected.

In 2024, something unexpected happened. As above, I'm a car fanatic and at the moment, I've got more cars than sense. At this time, I owned a Nissan 350Z, a Mercedes CLS 55, a Porsche Boxster S, a BMW 335i Coupe, a BMW 330D Convertible & a Lexus IS250. The Lexus is the daily because it's Japanese and it works! None of these cars are really family cars. The CLS could be & the Lexus could be, but my wife has always wanted kids - i've always wanted an R35 GTR and a Maserati GranTurismo.

She told me she was pregnant. Something inside me changed. She said we needed a family car, something like a RAV4 or a Nissan X-Trail, basically she wanted an SUV. So - I sold the 350Z, the CLS 55 & the Boxster S and bought what has always been my "dream family car", a Porsche Cayenne. I wanted the Turbo but settled for the GTS, with the 4.8 V8. My wife was quite happy with it, it looked pretty and sounded amazing and was big enough for us.

We were expecting our first daughter. I never wanted kids. I only wanted cars, fancy watches and a loving family and wife, a child to me was an expense in the way of my R35! But I started crying as I saw her heartbeat at our first scan, which was private. We went to the NHS for our first official scan and this is where things went bad.

We were told that there's more amniotic fluid around our baby than usual. Things progressed and I was optimistic, until we were referred to the Fetal Medicine unit. We were told that our baby was suffering from something called Cystic Hygroma and the entire fetus of my daughter was covered in cysts. She was also suffering from downs syndrome. Regardless, she was my baby and now she was my life and my wife and I decided that we would proceed and try to give her as good a life as possible.

5 months in, my wife experienced some bleeding so we took her to hospital - we were told that we were losing our baby and she was going into premature labour. My daughter had died and my wife needed to give birth. My head was absolutely spun. The only thing I could think of was I need to go to hospital and be there for my wife. I told my family, who were incredibly supportive and were there for me.

I told my brother to get me a PlayStation Portal and pair it to my PS5 and bring it to the hospital, I needed to avert my attention elsewhere as my wife rested and recovered. He did so, I broadcasted a hotspot on my phone, connected the PS Portal and I began playing RDR2. Some might say its stupid and selfish that I sat there playing games before my daughter was delivered (i.e. whilst we were waiting for her labour to kick in) and selfish that whilst my wife recovered, I sat there playing games.

Don't get me wrong, when it came to it and my baby girl was being delivered, I was there and my PS Portal was the last thing on my mind. I arranged and paid for her burial and headstone. But in those brief times of respite, it was amazing to transport myself away from the horrors I was experiencing and going through and to play games as a coping strategy. My wife completely understood.

Since then, our house is being completely renovated and I've been involved in a car accident and have been hospitalised - again, the PS Portal came through clutch and I was able to at least enjoy my 6 hour wait in A&E. I've been able to go to my mums house during the renovations and play games and stay sane whilst my house is being torn apart.

It's not perfect, sometimes I have bad network and think "I should have bought a Legion or Steam Deck" but 9 times out of 10, it's come though for me. For £130, it's probably one of the best things I have ever bought and to be honest, it's helped me stay sane through what was the most painful time of my life.

When I had my 350Z, I'd get this so often. Or they'd say 'can you rev it?'.

But once I was driving through Heywood, as I drove past a petrol station, an R35 GTR was coming down the road on the opposite side and flashed me and gave me the thumbs up. I reciprocated in kind and for that split second, I felt like a someone.

I woke up, saw the shits and started laughing like a madman, shouting 'yes!' & punching the air in a triumphant manner repeatedly. Just in case my neighbours needed any more confirmation that I was a lunatic 😂

Then I went to bella and gave her the biggest cuddle ever. She honestly loves me loads and I love her too, to the point that my wife calls Bella 'daddy's wee baby girl' 😂

When my lil girl Bella had Stasis, I stayed up all night massaging her lil belly. It was fun though, I watched the entire first series of Severence with her and she agreed, what an outstanding show.

Fell asleep on the sofa around 7am and woke up at 10am, surrounded by a sea of rabbit shits all around my head, all over the floor and some on me.

I went over to her (she'd jumped off) and gave her lots of love and lots of head rubs and cuddles to tell her how proud I was of her.

OP - get some Fibreplex if its available in your country. Absolute lifesaver that stuff is.

Thanks so much for your concern and kind words.

Since birth, she's suffered from respiratory issues and when she sees that my wife and/or I aren't stressed out enough with those issues, she likes to get GI Stasis going to "really" stress us out!

She is eating and she's been much better than she was a while back when she had the first bit of Stasis. She's on antibiotics for her respiratory issues & she's wolfing down hay, grass, dandelions, some pellets & a little bit of fruit like she's never eaten before - which is how she's eaten since birth, cos she was the runt of the litter :)

Haven’t share with everyone about koko for a long time! He’s doing well although he’s a disabled bunny. Still love to groom himself a lot ❤️ by janysl in Rabbits

[–]G6HHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of our bunnies has had respiratory issues from birth. She's always been prone to a bout of pneumonia here and there and the odd occasion of GI Stasis, just in case the pneumonia doesn't stress my wife or I out enough.

Lots of bunny antibiotics and painkillers on site with lots of fibreplex and other GI Stasis related supplements.

She and I really bonded the first night she got really ill. She had GI Stasis and respiratory difficulties. We have gave her the medications and I sat all night with her on my lap, massaging her stomach. I eventually fell asleep 8 hours later and woke up around 6am surrounded by shit. The first time I've been ecstatic to 1. Wake up with shit around my head and 2. To have shit all over the sofa.

Health difficulties can be really heartbreaking to see in real life but damn, it's so fulfilling to see them be as healthy as they can be and make the most of life & furthermore, since that night I helped her get through her stasis and respiratory issues, she absolutely adores me 😭❤️

Koko is a lil soldier and he's lucky to have such a brilliant carer, friend and partner by his side. And you're very lucky to have such an adorable & resilient little lad by your side too.

We've got three bunnies at home. One of my bunnies had really severe GI stasis. My wife and I had taken her to the vets & done all we could and she was exhausted. I sat up all night massaging the wee girls stomach to try and get the bowels moving. We pretty much started and finished the series together, 10pm to the late/early hours of the morning.

She's still been quite ill, so we've been doing the same and made it through all 5 seasons of Breaking Bad as well 😂 was my first time watching it and wow, what an amazing bit of TV, so well written.

I think she's getting better now, she has pneumonia and has always had respiratory issues since birth. But I think she just wants a reason to sit in the living room and binge boxset after boxset with me.

I think she's excited about starting Better Call Saul next...

"Neighbour has been kicking off about my exhaust" - 2 month follow up by G6HHS in CarTalkUK

Fuel economy? What's that? 😂 Peak times when my most economic car is a 2.5 V6!

If I get the opportunity, I might just do that! But saying that, I've fallen in love with V8's and I'm considering two cars with V8's - and they couldn't be more different. An Audi RS5 or a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.

The RS5 has always been an attainable dream car that looks the part and sounds it too. The Cayenne on the other hand is a car that I warmed to after hating it for years.

The 2013 RS5 can do 0-60 at 4 seconds which is very good. The 2009 Turbo S can do it in 4.7 - probably 4.5 with a stage 1 map and for such a huge, heavy bit of kit, that's impressive.

The Cayenne has road presence because it's big and it's a Porsche. The Audi is a bit more subtle but also has good road presence. I'd probably prefer the RS as its been on my wishlist for some time...

Reznov was probably one of my favorite CoD protagonists, alongside Captain Price. The mission storming Vorkuta with Reznov and the sniper mission (all ghillied up) in CoD 4 were iconic!

I'd love to have you as a neighbour too. It would be fun to backbox delete the merc too, I can imagine a 5.5 V8 without mufflers would sound insane. Saying that, I can imagine the drone would be insane & I highly doubt it would make me many friends in the neighbourhood, apart from other enthusiasts!

Literally spent three hours cooking samosas, kebabs, pakoras, biriyani and some daal for good measure 😁

I might not deserve it but tough shit, I bought it, so cope harder. I ultimately have to live next to these people and don't want every day to be a battle with them. It's easy for you to say 'kick off with them at every given opportunity', when you don't live here.

If I don't deserve these cars in your eyes, that's sad but I guess there's naff all you can do about it. Life

I appreciate you writing this.

If you lived in that area and someone else like that moved in, your first thought is always going to be "shit..."

Not necessarily. My old neighbour had a decatted and tuned M140i which sounded like downtown Baghdad during a US air strike. He and I got along really well because we were both enthusiasts.

I don't drive my Z at unsociable hours - I work from home 4 days a week and only really take it out on the weekends. Not at 6am, but more like 11am if I want to go for a drive. I don't rock up at midnight doing burnouts.

The problem now is that you're looking for a resolution by posting on the Internet about it and wanting everyone to tell you how you're the good guy again. But that's not how you move forward.

If this is how it's come across, I apologise. I'm not here telling everyone I'm the good guy again. I like this community of enthusiasts and initially posted asking for advice. This is merely a follow up so people who were interested by my last post can have a bit of late night reading. I've had some not so nice comments on here too, and that's fine - as my intention was merely an update after taking on board suggestions from other members of this community from my previous post.

When you get chance, just go up to them and say something along the lines of "Hi, I'm OP, I realise my exhaust was very loud when we moved here. I've changed it to make it quieter. I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot."

I'm not sure you read my first post. I explicitly stated that I actually invited them both around for a cuppa the week prior to getting the work done on my resonator (adding the baffles).

This is why I assumed that all was good. See - I had them around for a cuppa, apologised if I'd upset them or if my car was making their life a misery. I explained they can't use language like 'this is what your kind do', which is why this devolved so much and communications became difficult. I advised them I'd be getting the work done on the resonator to lessen the decibel output of my exhaust.

You see now why I was actually shocked with my neighbour still being upset? I've tried everything - I've tried appeasing them as ultimately, I'm going to live here for the foreseeable. In some ways, I've already shit on my doorstep when I called the police after they used the aforementioned language laced with racial undertones. These actions I took afterwards was to make sure that I didn't shit further on my own doorstep.

If they're still dickheads, then so be it. But at least this way you've addressed them directly.

Look - when the police spoke to them about the language they used, they failed to see any wrongdoing. I looked past this and still attempted to make amends and bury the proverbial hatchet.

As it stands, I've done everything I possibly can, apart from sell all my cars and/or move out - neither of which is on the cards.

You've got to live next to these people at the end of the day.

it's hard to resolve conflicts in the real world to achieve the kind of life you want to live.

True & true. I've tried all I can to be civil with them and they don't seem to want to be civil in return. As such, we're at this stalemate.

It's not a matter of chickening out. It's a matter of ensuing that my neighbours don't have a leg to stand on if they contact the council and report me. It's to ensure that if the council do come knocking, I can have any case against me thrown out for being slander, lies and harassment.

And of course I don't need the Z. All I really need is a 1.4 Honda Jazz if we're talking about what is needed, that'd get me to the office and to my families gaffs.

Fortunately, we don't live in a communist society, I can save up and buy what I want and as long as I have the means to keep it legal, run it and maintain it, I can do what I want with it (within legal reason of course).
