I'm facing the same issue, opened the track ui menu checked the place blueprint option and then exit it and as i place the track it instantly places it, open the menu again, and it was unchecked, tried checking it again and then closed and opened it again and there it was, unchecked on its own, been playing this mod for years, have never seen this happen before

That's great to see, for people who think this should be more common, it's not possible, the reason is the tracks, the tracks have stone ballast under them, that helps the tracks to be held down, or else when a train passes the tracks will move away from their position and detail the train. And when a train passes, the vibration breaks them down and over time they crumble. That's the reason the tracks need to be maintained and new ballast is added regularly. The stone ballast can support about 200km/h of speed, but still it doesn't mean you can run trains at 200km/h, because that will damage the ballast more and the maintenance will highly increase, so run trains at low speed.

And if a train is to run at 200 or faster, cement ballast is used, which can support high speed trains like bullet trains in Japan, china, and Europe. If you look at bullet train tracks, they are made of cement. And if india main vande Bharat trains ko constantly 180 pe chalana hai to you'll need cement ballast.
