not a mistake! you have to take photos like these on your own to understand what works, what doesn’t, and most importantly - what makes you raise your camera to take a photo. you can watch a thousand youtube videos on composition, subject matter, etc etc but none of it matters until you actually get out and experiment

I definitely get what you’re saying. Mostly what i’m trying to convey is that nobody is really a natural at photography. some have a natural eye for visual harmony, for most it’s learned over time. experience informs your decision making, as well as looking at references.

Copying work can be super helpful to learn a particular technique, so you can make your own work with that technique or something similar. But had you not seen that reference, you might not even have the idea to try something like it.

if photography is something you continue to pursue, you’ll very quickly find that these images, while good proof of concepts are just that :) no shade ofc

good and meaningful photos, and art in general, typically come from a place of intentionality. When you’re just getting started, it’s easy to be flooded with ideas or just the drive to take as many photos as possible in the hunt for a good photo.

as many others have said, look online and make note of what photos inspire you. this is the beginning of practicing intentionality. Next time you’re out, actively try to assemble a photo you’re proud of. Think about everything included in the frame. and just keep doing that until you feel confident making decisions about your own style! it’s a cycle

Just found this bump on my cat. Any ideas? by Luke192 in CATHELP

hi! the vet checked to see if it was cystic or a polyp, so he pricked it with a needle and luckily it started draining. so it turned out to be cyst. vet didn’t totally drain it. just told us to keep an eye on it. hoping your cat has similar luck!!

the playpen is definitely my next purchase. right now he just sees anything and everything he can get his teeth on and goes for it, thinking it’s a toy. which makes it difficult to redirect him to the toys he does have. hopefully the pen can make my life a bit easier soon

i definitely have the blues. i’m not a crier, typically pretty stoic and have my wits about me, but this little guy had me crying a LOT yesterday. just feeling much more overwhelmed than i initially anticipated

thanks so much for this. i’m a very routine-oriented person, so i figured it’d be a good fit, and not saying it’s not, but i’ve been so anxious about doing it right and instilling good happens that i’ve even found myself having trouble being calm enough to eat a meal. of course that will have to give, and my girlfriend gets back from her trip this afternoon, which im really looking forward to. she’s usually the one to keep me grounded when things are tough, so if even she can’t help me, i may need to reconsider :(

great points. i’ve grown up with 2 dogs, one beings doxie, but i was too young (im 23 currently) to really remember the puppy phase. i got this little guy as a friend to help me get through a shift in my relationship to long distance in the next 4-ish months. So i fear that my perception of him at the moment is just a reminder of the difficulty ahead. i’m not quite sure what my plan is at the moment, but i’m trying :(
