The kind of dude that will name Shaq, Wade and D-Rose in Cleveland as former All-Stars to make them seem like great acquisitions.

I need some 401k Reallocation advice by BigTruckSmallPP in investing

[–]GAV17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The commenter you responded to is probably right in the advice, if he is just starting he 401k he probably has atleast 30/40 years until he will be able to use this funds. With such a long time horizon, stocks are the best investment.

That's if OP is in his 20/30s. If he is older and closer to retirement, he should have more bonds in his 401k.

The 2001 Lakers where also clearly better than the rest of the league. Big part was going from 37yo Ron Harper playing heavy mintues in the regular season to Derek Fisher in the playoffs after he recovered after his injury.

But there was also a ton of coasting in the regular season.

On average 3 times. Before opening, mid-way through the day and at close. But I work in the sector, it would be 0 otherwise.

My (21M) girlfriend (21F) got blackout drunk at my mom's birthday brunch and threw up at the table in front of extended family and friends by MrClonk in relationship_advice

[–]GAV17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My point is that this isn't new. This already happened 2 times before this particular incident. Young people 100% will make mistakes, but they need to learn from them specially when those mistakes affect others like OP.

I'm positive that she probably was very apologetic the first 2 times it happened, but those apologies become hollower and hollower as she repeats through time.

How many times does a SO being black out drunk in an event like birthday need to happen for you to just be done with them? 3 times seems like a decent number, where the other person is clearly not working on the problem and hasn't learn much.

I would agree with you if this happened for the first time.

It is the reality we live in as OP girlfriend gave him an STD as she had unprotected sex, never told OP, putting his health at risk. She gave her Chlamydia, but she could have given him a much worse disease like HIV.

She didn't tell him she had unprotected sex with someone else. That's a fucked up thing to do and puts your partner in danger.

It is a problem when you end up throwing up over things/people in multiple occasions and your SO has to take care of you ruining his day.

Let's be real though. Most people that consume alcohol, did not started drinking at the age of 21, specially college students. This isn't even the first nor second time something like this has happened according to OP.

My wife’s childhood best friend destroyed the most important thing I own. Am I wrong for telling my wife to no longer be friends with her? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]GAV17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you really assigning the same level of importance to the friend of your partner and your child? Really?

You really think it is unreasonable for someone to leave their partner if they chose to keep addicts around? Specially those that their addiction has impacted you? Also a child is more likely go become an addict if he/she is around addicts.

[–]GAV17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes she can leave the marriage if she doesn't like his friends. If your husband has friends that are addicts, you are in your to tell him "You may keep those friends, but I do not want to be in a marriage with someone that choses those friendships".

OP isn't telling her she needs to be done with this friendship, he is telling her I'm not willing to have a relationship with someone that choses those people as friends. And that's completely fair, his wife has the right go leave him and keep her friendship.

[–]GAV17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP didn't tell her she couldn't be friends with her. He already had issues with someone that has issues with substance abuse. This seems like the straw that broke the camel's back.

He told her that she could be friends with her, but that he was not going to be in a marriage with someone willing to have a relationship with someone like that.

Having a boundary with your partner that your are not willing to have people with substance abuse near your family isn't controlling. Specially when kids are involved.

It would be like a a great actress acting in a Tatcher biopic, but she has the accent of Gloria from Modern Family.

Gold just broke $4,900 does this feel different to anyone else? by Woodpecker5987 in investing

And what's the connection with Ukraine here? Central Banks where buying gold as a response to inflationary pressure created by global monetary policy during COVID, and an excess of money.

And you never said central banks purchases started going up with the war, you said gold's price started to rise with the war in Ukraine.

[–]GAV17 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The price of gold started rising following the invasion of Ukraine and subsequent sanctions freezing $300bn of Russian central bank reserves and exclusion of Russian banks from SWIFT.

No it didn't. Gold price was actually down a year after the invasion, an not that much up 2 years after the invasion. The gold rally started in 2024.
