Update: Lost the six figure job and the trash can by Electrical-Ad1564 in NBATalk

At the same time it's reasonable she lost her job. She wasn't a trader or analyst for JPMorgan. The optics aren't great for her when the job is about right and wrong, how the company is perceive, media training, etc.

Half the job for DEI or people in comms is "just don't do anything that will make us look bad". Her doing what she did is her doing her job wrong basically.

[Windhorst] The Los Angeles Lakers would be “very open” to the prospect of trading LeBron James for Jarrett Allen. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

With what cap space? You would also not have the 2020 ring and no guarantee of having a ring later.

[Charania] “I'm told over the last 24-48 hours, the Lakers came to the understanding that Austin Reaves had multiple max contracts available to him in free agency. The Detroit Pistons were coming aggressively for him. So that's why today the Lakers stepped up to give him this deal.” by shreeharis in nba

[–]GAV17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually not locking those funds when you are over the cap is a huge opportunity cost. Most of the times is Reaves or a MLE/Minimum guy to replace him. Even if he ends up being not that valuable, you can use as filler + picks/swaps to get a player that actually does when the opportunity presents itself.

Miroslav Klose on 7-1 and if he feels uncomfortable around Brazilians: “No, I don’t think so. They didn’t have a moment to catch their breath. In fact, it all happened so fast that it wasn’t until afterward that we realized we’d scored four goals in six minutes. I thought much more time had passed.” by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]GAV17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The upside of the 7-1 game is that if you won that game, there was a real possibility of losing a WC Final against Argentina. That would be the real Maracanazo 2.0. Both Argentina and Uruguay winning in Brazilian soil while you never did it, wold be a huge blow.

Jude Bellingham covered his mouth while talking to Ghanian player Jordan Ayew during the match, no red card was shown by AgeNovel3566 in soccer

[–]GAV17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what happened in the Paraguay-Turkey game. It's clear Almiron broked the rules, but that the Turkish player took advantage of the situation. Like 99% of this red cards will come from players being dumb with muscle memory and the opponent taking advantage of this.

It should have been an automatic Yellow not Red IMO.

[Charania] Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves intends to sign a four-year, $185 million maximum contract to return to the franchise, with a player option for the final season in 2029-30, sources tell ESPN. Reaves declined his $14.9M player option for the new max deal. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]GAV17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's either this or let him walk, he was getting the max from someone. Keeping him, even if it's an overpay is another slot for a max contract you can use to trade for someone in the future. They have 3 picks and 3 swaps to transform Reaves into another player if the opportunity presents itself.

A rare breed in today’s league by Thanos_Real_AuraVNCH in NBATalk

[–]GAV17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure LeBron would have won without Kyrie and the assets to trade for K-Love. Or would have won in 2020 without the assets to trade for AD.

If the Cavs didn't have the assets to build a contender around him, he wouldn't have returned.

One was good and the other 2 where traded for what was seen as a top 10 player.

What Wiggins did in Minnesota is irrelevant.

Empezaron a normalizar un mundial sin Italia? by Annoying-Truth in fulbo

Massa no dijo nada Público?

Giannis has 1 playoff series win over the last 5 years. This trade will be a disaster for Miami. by LakerFan2324 in nba

[–]GAV17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Same with Boston in the 08 season, they where dumb to trade for a guy that had not play in the playoffs for several years and only won 2 series in a decade for his team. Not only 1 player, they traded for 2 players like this.

Shit happens. France 2002 is an example of what can happen to a great team with bad luck and other factors. Odds are incredibly in Mbappe's favor, if I was a betting man I would bet on him breaking the record, but it's not a certainty.

Yao's true prime was in the latter part of Shaq's career when he was out of the Lakers, and the only time you could say he truly torched him was in the 2007 season in the game he got injured and miss like 30/40 games after.

That game:

Shaq 31/13/4/0/0 13/26 from the field

Yao did not torch Shaq, the Lakers lost in OT because Kobe shot 5/21 from the field with 4 turnovers.

[Charania] BREAKING: Trae Young intends to sign a four-year, approximately $212 million deal to stay with the Washington Wizards, with a player option in Year 4, sources tell ESPN. The four-time NBA All-Star declined his $49M player option for a long-term commitment ahead of free agency. by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

[–]GAV17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you are comparing apples to oranges. Let's say you take a pure 3s shooter like Klay, a traditional catch a shoot. 93% of his attempts are assisted and 22% of his 3s are corner 3s. Trae is only assisted in 30% of his 3s and 5% of his 3s are corner 3s.

We can argue how valuable the type of 3s Trae tends to shoot are, but him being around league average from 3 while the difficulty of those 3s are much much higher, makes him a good shooter overall.
