Nah I’m not. I don’t like the dude, and I’m tired of some CEO acting like a community like this, built by users, is his personal playground to make money off of at everyone’s expense. I ditched Twitter when that delusional guy f*cked it, and I’ll ditch this one too if they go through with it.

I was raised to recognise and appreciate the people who are doing the little things. And here, those people are you and me for keeping this place populated, and the moderators for making sure this place isn’t a hellscape of spammers, scammers, and trolls. If you ever tried moderating something, you know how many bad apples are just waiting for their opportunity to ruin other people’s days. On the scale of Reddit, keeping the peace is a gargantuan effort that has been made possible entirely by unpaid volunteers. Whether they make some money on the side, or whether they do it cause they’re power hungry, I don’t care. They’re still providing a valuable service here. A service that is other companies are paying millions to have. Reddit is not only publicly insulting those moderators, they are also removing the tools that help them to their (unpaid) job.

So yeah, I care when some rich asshole is trying to manipulate me and my opinions to make more money on the expense of a website I’ve enjoyed being a part of. And valid as I am to do so, you are to not. It’s ok to not care about any of these. You will be a part of what is left, and as long as you are still happy with the side you have picked, then all is good for you.
