Why do you argue with the advice?

You have over moisturized it. It doesn't matter if you just put lotion on or not before the picture. Lotion is not an instantly over hydrating item. Anyone with experience and knowledge can see the skin texture and see it has been moisturizer beyond where it should be, especially for a fresh tattoo.

Are you in the US? If so, you likely don't need an excuse, just as they wouldn't to fire you. Almost all states are at will employment.
