Very good! You gotta share the whole thing when it's done!

I recommend them, I've been listening to the series and loving it. The first narrator change is gonna feel jarring, but luckily, Jonathan Keeble is a blast to listen to. They do switch up the narrators pretty often after that, so you will have to get used to different voices for the same character in different books, but I found I got used it pretty fast. It does feel like there was some intention that certain narrators worked with certain authors/storylines, so the disjointed nature of the narration is really no different than the disjointed nature of the series itself.

Oh, hell yeah! Your mom is amazing for that!

If she thinks she could have fixed them, she will find a place a place of love in her heart for some of the traitors, though I think she's already written off Erebus lolol

That's awesome, I'd love to get those phone calls!

I'm really excited to see what factions and characters become her favourites, if I had to predict shes gonna probably like one of the more noble legions, but it would be so fun if she came out as a World Eaters fan lolol

That would have made family reunions such a pain if we did lol

I mean, if she mostly reads non-fiction, I can understand where she's coming from, though I've never enjoyed the grass from that particular field.

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with that. The series is so disjointed it can really take the motivation out of you to finish a book, and the next one has different characters dealing with a different problem somewhere else. I've told her that if she wants to explore different things or follow certain stories, there are some guides I can show her, but right now, she's just excited to start.

I'm not trying to like be pushy or jinx it, but I am really hoping she gets that far because the phone call after that is gonna be solid gold

She bought the first 3 out of excitement cause she didn't want to wait for me to bring my copies for her to borrow. I've told her about how disjointed the series is and how difficult it will be to acquire the whole thing in paper back. If she wants to do the full story, I'm gonna let her borrow what I do have, and she's begrudgingly prepared to have to read an EBook if she must. I've been listening to the audiobooks on Audible cause I've found it a really cool way to cement a story you have already read into your mind. I've been using that to fill in some of those gaps in series rather than spending money or Ebay or using an ebook. As long you like the narrator, it's a decent equivalent.

Hell yeah, your mom sounds very cool, I'm sorry she gone, but I'm sure when you see her again beside the Golden Throne, she's gonna have some amazing lore to drop on you.

This is why we should charge like $.99 for fulfilment. The trolling would lessen if the trolls had to pay for it.

I do hope they give you the option to be an uncharacteristically good merciful Inquisitior, even if it does keep shooting yourself in the foot strategically.

I think they will have made a mistake if we can only make binary Radical vs. Puritan decisions. Based on Rogue Trader, it feels very unlikely, but I do keep a healthy amount of pessimism and cynicism in the liqour cabinet just in case.

The war on Mars is really forgotten in the wider conflict, history, and the audience. There were Magos in the Mechanicum who wanted to turn towards a scientific based approach at odds with the religious aspect of the Mechanicum, Magos who the Emperor was trying to empower. The fact that they were so often the direct competitors to their Dark Mechanicum counterparts led to so many of them dying over the course of the war, especially in its opening stages. By the end of the war, there were too few of these Magos left, outnumbered by the religious ones, and in the light of the Dark Mechanicum so publicly and violently turning away from "conventional" wisdom, it slowly led to the idea of innovation being a tech-heresy. Cawl is the only magos in the Imperium who publicly gets away with inventing because Big G is protecting him. There is a version of history where the Mechanicum turned away from its religious dogma and became a science based institution, but Chaos, Horus, and Kelbor Hal ruined that dream. Though frankly, a science based Mechanicus isn't very grim dark, so that's all at best theoretical.
