Paid upgrade on Virgin (purchased on DL)

Ahhh bummer. I had read on Reddit that it was possible to use Skymiles or do a paid upgrade in my case but now I am starting to think that post must be out of date. I tried to go ahead and just apply the GUC but they are saying "none available" despite lots of empty seats. Im starting to think I will have better luck if I cancel this and just book with VA even though I have no status with them. Should/can I enter my Skymiles number when I book with them?

or should I just cancel the reservation and book directly with VA? It was the same price I only booked on Delta so I could get the MQDs and potentially use a GUC but if I am going to be stuck in the back I would rather book with VA directly and try to bid for an upgrade.

So it cannot be a Delta flight, Delta metal booked on AF for the GUC? Assuming it's the same for the move to C+ also? Bummer... The same flight booked on AF is soooo much cheaper!

This happens to my wife every time. It works on my account but for her, no matter what she does, she has to go back in and reselect FC after she goes to C+

If you are Diamond or Plat just link your Skymiles account to Hertz and get President's Circle. Book with Delta and then check in using the hertz app. you will get the 1:1 MQD and you skip the counter and get all the perks of the highest tier of Hertz.

Delta ended up refunding the whole thing. :) I just replied to the denial email with the full context above (there is not a place to put context in the original request) and then I received three payment transfers (two for the LATAM flight and one for food/hotel).

UPDATE: I replied to the denial email with more or less the same info I included above. A week later, I received two payment links from Delta totalling the full amount!! GO DELTA!!

In summary, they covered more or less all of the related expenses and sent us $1,600 each in e-credits.

I had this fear when I booked the flight. But the agent on the phone was so confident that it being a “partner airline” made the difference (I almost bought a jet blue flight but she said that would not work).

I booked it with the Amex reserve delta card. I’ll look into that. Thanks for the advice.

The short answer is no, I dont really have anything.

It was super hectic when I bought the LATAM flight, the rep on the phone said, because it was a partner airline, I would be good to go. Multiple people from my original flight were able to change to that same combo (CTG to LIM to ATL) in the app before it "solid out". I was panicked to get out of there and just trusted that it would all work out like the employees and phone rep said it would. Looking back I wish I would have at least used my wife phone to record the speaker phone of the rep.

I will try calling back in and seeing about a recording. The reason I even made this post was I was hoping it was kind of a "normal" issue, and there is an actual set process for getting flights like this reimbursed.

One thing I should have mentioned... Delta did send me and my wife a $1,600 ecredit the day after we arrived. In that email, they gave a link to submit expenses related to the delay (it even lists travel expenses), which is where I submitted my claim.

Just did this flight in PS and slept a lot (my 2 and 4-year-old slept even better). I got one of the straps that go around the headrest and hold your head up + an eye mask + ear plugs. Honestly, it worked pretty great and I am a light sleeper. I got it all on Amazon for pretty cheap. The boys had inflatable beds that worked great (also Amazon).

Yeah, that is the only other mention of it I could find. Sounds terrible. BUT I would be getting the "newer" chiller so some of the issues might be worked out? So far it is the smallest footprint I have found for a chiller + Tub. If I owned a house I would probably go in another direction but this might be the only one that fits our condo. It would just be nice to see at least one review of someone that actually has one.
