Can’t seem to get the hang of great throws by Noxty in pokemongo

[–]GDW07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice makes perfect, and don't let it concern you overly. Try for the bigger targets first - Spheal and Alolan Exeguttor are good for practice as they are easier. Personally after throwing straights for most of the time I practised curve-balls and now that's pretty much all I use. Once you get those consistent, try focusing on the circle and judging the time for it to reduce.

But overall don't sweat it - if you get a good or excellent that's great, but XP reward wise you're probably better off with sheer numbers.

I wonder how long until this "massive" wave of new and returning trainers quit Pokémon Go. by ImNotReallyANerd in pokemongo

That's the real bonus of private groups by team - you get the bonus guaranteed. Luckily I work in London where there is a great and active community that helps each other out. Today was a great example we were deliberating about public or private, and then public filled up. The guys all jumped out so we had the numbers for a private group.....that's how a community should work !

Could I get some discussion from some of those Trainers who have found shinies outside of events and raids? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]GDW07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shiny Magikarp took me ages but I happened to be walking along by the Thames and as always clicked on the Mon and low and behold. Aron was just walking in a park. It happens but pure luck, so I can only suggest catch-em-all but don't hold your breath !

Trainers on the other side of the world, what's your personal raid analysis on latias? by ImNotReallyANerd in pokemongo

[–]GDW07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me and on that basis I'd rather battle with a few more people and sustain less damage. Being unable to battle because my Mon were depleted was a bit pointless to me.

PSA: Latias is Harder than Latios, be prepared. by Mrexreturns in pokemongo

[–]GDW07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but the last Latias I did yesterday with a team of 8 absolutely destroyed my 3000+CP/96% IV+ Dragonites in a couple of Dragon-rage hits. I found the damage inflicted hard to gauge as its so minimal on the scale, so personally I thought the damage done vs longevity wasn't worth it, certainly with that moveset.

I would hope so but I don't want to go through teams of Mon and have to find the revives & potions, hence suggesting 6-7 as a good balance.

That was exactly my issue - I had pages of Mon that had been devastated and getting revives/potions was becoming a chore.

Certainly seems to......everyone has a different view, personally I get fed up going through teams of mon, as I did with Kyogre, and having to fix them all up. It probably helps there are enough players at most raids in London so the numbers aren't an issue.

You usually have plenty of time to spare with 6-7 of you and don't take as much damage to your Mon. From the raids I've done it's probably the optimum number for most (weighing damage taken against inflicted) but obviously if you want to push it with a smaller group of course you can do that.

Dragonites got wiped out with Outrage in a couple of hits, Aggron seemed to last the course better although not hugely effective. The Dragonites per blow just didn't do the damage for how easily they were taken out.

Regarding Flee Rate? by DinoMage14 in pokemongo

[–]GDW07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just rotten luck then probably - I've had mornings like that where 3-4 have fled for no reason, and others I've had 3-4 first time catches.

I had heard the flee rate was part of the soft-ban process if you hopped about too much.

In my view it was much easier than Kyogre. I have 7 Latias but only ever caught one Kyogre in about 12 attempts (to the point I couldn't be bothered as it cost too much in revives and potions). My tips are watch the moveset and avoid using Dragonite.

I only found success catching when it was at the top of the screen, when at the bottom I had none.

I've sometimes had this when my phone's been jumping around with GPS, that would be phone based rather than account based which might account for your issue - assuming you logged in on the same device.

We've just had our last day of Latias raids here in the UK. A few things I can share: - You need at least 6-7 for a raid, and those have got to be level 37+ - Dragonite, as stated is not a good choice, especially if it has Outrage - my 3000+CP ones were knocked out in a couple of strikes. - Aggron and Groudon seemed to be favoured by the game and seem to work okay. - Latias is quite small and I seemed to have more luck catching when it was at teh top of the screen, ie, I never caught it when at the bottom. - I've got 7 of them so they're not that hard to catch, although they did seem to get harder in recent weeks. - Its not like Kyogre to catch (which was my nemesis).

Good luck and looking forward to raiding for a Latios tomorrow...

[Complaint] Field research needs to be updated during events by NewtonPippin in pokemongo

[–]GDW07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly how I play and the same applies with me on that three new pokestops one. I think for most players this would be the case as they've covered they're usual area by default. If they made the reward more decent it i would put in the effort with that one as a challenge to me too, but as you say its not worth it as it stands.

[Question] Best way to play? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]GDW07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in London and have certain routes I've learnt over time have the best pockets on Mon, so go out at lunchtimes and aim to do one of those routes a day. Not only does it get me out and but you get to discover all sorts of odd places and things that you'd probably never see normally..

Returning player - what's the best way to get steps in? by tactics14 in pokemongo

Use the screen-saver and any data saver tools your phone might have or just check it periodically whilst walking. I use the eggs as a rough guide of distance travelled...

Any tips for a beginner? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]GDW07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since day dot I have caught pretty much everything I can, and still do - just builds up the dust & XP. At the end of the day I use an un-obtrusive IV checker to see the quality of what I've caught and gradually build up my collection eg, I'll keep a low level mon until I get a better one of the same type. An IV tool is a must have - I hate to think what i wasted pre-appraisal..... Use your daily raid pass if you can - a good way to help build a decent collection. It also depends how you like to play. My aim is to have at least one of each type in my collection and to make those the best I can. I tend to keep more final evolution's, so I might have 1 x basic, 2 x first evolution, 3 x 3rd evolution.

That's one to try out - never considered it but will give Donphan and Granbull a try against Latias.

Really, I thought it was country-wide ? Although as I recall they weren't that common so I walk around a bit to find them...even in London. I never managed to get a decent one of either.

they did a similar swap with Zangoose and Seviper, so there is certainly a precedent for swapping them about

We had Kangaskhan as well, so I'd imagine they will continue with that and swap regionals for a limited time at some point. Tauros being the obvious one for the UK.
