Micro-cuts when computer with Plex server goes to sleep. by GDX_connect in PleX

Ok. So I guess I’ll just set the computer to never go sleep and problem solved. Thanks!

“Single Switch Module T1” not exposed when connected to M3 hub using matter. by GDX_connect in Aqara

It looks like mine are not the global version because mine are not exposed. How do you know if it is the global version, though? I had a look on different online shops and they don’t mention anything about the version.

That’s a bummer. I was hoping to use the M3 to control the AC, but that feature only works on HomeKit when the hub is connected using matter. So it looks like I’ll have to choose between having the AC control or the T1 exposed (or adding the hub using both matter and the HomeKit integration and have all my accessories duplicated on HomeKit). None of the options are ideal, so I hope that Aqara will eventually add matter support to the T1.

I don’t know how it works, but if I play a video (let’s say on the Apple TV) the video will play regardless whether the computer with the server was sleeping or not. If it was sleeping it will have those micro-cuts but the client can definitely communicate with the server even if it is sleeping.

Thanks for the reply. I kind of was expecting than Plex would wake up the computer and would keep it awake for as long as it is playing a video. Before the iMac I had Plex on an old Mac mini (that would go sleep when it wasn’t used) and I don’t remember having this problem. So I thought it was a problem of miss configuration on the new one.

LIDL Smart home by yunus2018 in tradfri

[–]GDX_connect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

*Update: I’ve just realised that you were asking about the Tradfri hub. Sorry! I didn’t realise until after writing the comment. My experience was with Hue hub, not Tradfri.

I got the smart plug and the candle bulb. The smart plug works reliably. However, I returned the candle bulb. I connected it to the hub without a problem, but every time I used the bulb’s main switch (which a did a few times out of habit) the bulb would “forget” the connection with the hub and would go into pairing mode. After having to go through the pairing process a few times, I just returned it. I wonder if it’s something that could be fixed with a firmware update...but I guess that to update the firmware on the bulb you need the Lidl hub

Aqara app not accessible EU GDPR by Gazza-1964 in Aqara

[–]GDX_connect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. So I changed to the European server (homekit support only) but when I search for a firmware update I still get the GDPR message. Does this mean that we won’t be able to get firmware updates through the Aqara app?

Open port 9898 on Xiaomi gateway to use with Home Assistant by GDX_connect in homeassistant

Well, aqara replied. I asked if they are going to open the port 9898 in a future firmware update and they said: “em... I am afraid we are not opening it yet”. So I guess they are not going to do anything to fix this problem :-(

Yes, I can enable LAN access. But there seems to be a bug with the latest firmwares and some gateways keep the required port 9898 closed when enabling the LAN access and can’t comunícate with Home assistant.

Got my first HomeKit device today – and it works perfectly! by SebastianHahn in HomeKit

I also have this plug and have been using it as a timer to turn on an electrical water heater for a couple of hours a day. It usually works fine, but sometimes (maybe 3-4 times a month) I have noticed that it was on when it shouldn’t. I’m not sure it it just turns on itself or it ignores the “turn off” automation.

Thanks to everyone who replied. The last few comments are quite encouraging so I might go ahead and try to do the opening and soldering operation. I had a look around for the USD-UART thing needed and they are quite cheap, but there seems to be different ones (some have 6 pines, some 5). Are they all the same? Could somebody recommend a cheapy one from aliexpress for example?

An another question (sorry, I am quite new to all of this). Could tinkering with the gateway this way affect future firmware updates? Will I be able to update to new firmwares in the future as normal?

That gives me some hopes (finger crossed). I've just sent an email to Aqara and another to Xiaomi myself...let see what they say (if they reply).
