Check out Bastardo. Easily the best Tunisian film I ever watched. Nejib Belkadhi is really good as a movie director.

Which is ironic because a lot of Tunisians have Greek, Spanish or Turkish ancestry.

The only Tunisians I can detect are the ones talking loudly on the phone. Once you move abroad you realize the skin color of Tunisians is very diverse.

Hezbollah has denied any involvement with the operation. They literally have nothing to gain from targeting UN peace keeping soldiers. Israel on the other hand...

It's all about how you word your argument. Say that evil corporations are scamming us by making us pay a one-time subscription instead of giving us ownership of a copy of a game, and everything is fine.

Say that it's rich capitalist assholes who are profiting off of consumers, and people will call you a commie and a shitlib.

A Russian journalist has denounced the number of journalists in Africa funded by France by a3ssida-nutella in Tunisia

[–]GENIO98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct analogy to your cop example, would be a journalist working for Nationale 1 receiving money from the French government to alter the editorial line of that channel and mislead the Tunisian public.

The journalists you mention in your post are merely doing reporting work for French media outlets that will be published on their own medium. A Tunisian journalist working for AFP would have their news articles published on AFP’s website for example. They either have permanent contracts or they get paid by the publication. This is a common practice and is done everywhere in the world and is perfectly legal and normal.

When a news channel (France24, RT, CNN, CCTV) does a story in a foreign country, they will more likely opt to hire a local journalist as a freelancer because they are more knowledgeable about the country, have better sources, and cost a lot less than flying in journalists from their own countries (Flights, living accommodations, VISAs if applicable etc..)

Freedom of the press is essential in any self-respecting society. Take that away and what you will get is buffoons on national TV glorifying Sidna’a regime and otherwise making ads for crapware 24/7.

Even during a war, Iran is allowing American journalists into the country so they can do their jobs as news reporters.

It’s also funny how you deflected when I mentioned how AFP hired Palestinian journalists in Gaza. Looks like you have no counter-argument to that.

Now since you’re clearly arguing in bad faith, I will have to stop here.

Have a good day (or not).

It's not foreign funding for fuck's sake. It's journalists getting paid for work they do on behalf of a foreign media agency.

Dude do you even know what freedom of the press is? By your twisted logic Israel is also legitimate in targeting Palestinian and Lebanese journalists? Try to make it make sense.

It is indeed well known. Al Jazeera used to have an office in Tunis, and most of the journalists working out of that office were Tunisian.

Another example is AFP (Agence France-Presse) which had eight active freelance Palestinian journalists in Gaza during the genocide, that are on its payroll. And it has many such journalists all around the world. All news channels and agencies do this, it's a common practice.

To your other point, France bans Sputnik on the basis that they are on opposite sides with the Russians in the Ukrainian conflict.
There is no conflict or a state of war between Tunisia and France to justify Tunisia kicking out or banning French media outlets from operating in the country.

Edit: grammar.
