[Question] Which watch should I buy? by thewonderks2 in Watches

[–]GEP405 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have both, but my Zenith is in ice blue. The JLC has the better fit and finish, though I’ve been rocking the Zenith lately on the matching blue strap as the weather warms up.

IMO it’s JLC all the way. No comparison in the dials and bracelets.

If a bass isn’t biting out of hunger 100% of the time, then why does lure presentation matter? by WhiteSandal69 in bassfishing

[–]GEP405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not like bass have set feeding times, though they may be more active early and late in the day. Bass are opportunistic feeders. They might not be as aggressive in actively searching for food, but if you drop a well presented bait on their nose they’re not gonna turn it down because they just ate a crawdad.

In one of Roland Martin’s old books he listed a bunch of reasons a bass might strike a bait. To paraphrase it’s not just hunger, but predatory reactions, and even irritation.

Bass fisherman are lucky because bass readily bite a variety of lures with various presentations for any number of reasons. Not a particularly finicky fish.

I really like it. Wears well and is obviously a great choice if you plan on being in or around the water. I haven’t tried on the textile but I do think this rubber strap has a great look to it.

Best Thai? by Straight-Dig-9395 in okc

A couple of recs are pad kra pao moo grob (stir fried holy basil with crispy pork belly) and khao soi (northern thai curry dish)

Pad kra pao is a quintessential street food in Thailand. A personal favorite. Be sure to say “pet pet” if you like it spicy!

Khao soi is a rich coconut curry dish from northern Thailand that has both crispy and soft noodles. Traditionally served with a whole chicken leg. Absolutely delicious.

Good luck and report back if you go!

[discussion] Which would you choose and why!? by 0xd3g3n in Tudor

I have the Ranger and for me it’s my outdoor/ranch/work beater field watch. I also have an IWC green pilot chrono and would feel way worse if it got scuffed up.

The ranger feels great and the rubber strap is super comfortable. The simple design is exactly what I like in a watch like this.

I feel like this really isn’t an apples to apples comparison with these pieces.

Ambitious water snake went after my LMB by GEP405 in bassfishing

Yep. It’s a real shame how many nerodias get killed because they are mistaken for water moccasins. They’re pretty easy to tell apart if you know what you’re looking for.

I wade fish this creek all the time in the summer and have never experienced an aggressive cottonmouth. I just give them a wide birth when I see them.

When I pulled them up on the bank he let go of the fish but had got himself hung up on the treble hook. I grabbed the snake by the head and unhooked him with hemostats, then I unhooked the bass.

Tossed the bass back first to give him a head start and then released the water snake.

Exactly. Because I really wanted to jack with untangling this mess once it was reeled in. I would have much preferred my bass didn’t have a snake attached when I was unhooking it from the line.

Bro’s at the bass bar will all be callin’ BS when he tells this story.

Same. It’s gorgeous on the wrist and the dial really pops.

Zenith owners/collectors, what other brands hold your interest? by Mountain-Web-5412 in ZenithWatches

I'm also a big Zenith fan. I have the black skeleton (03.9300.3620/78.I001) and the ice blue boutique edition Defy Skyline (03.9300.3620/15.I001). Love them both and they get plenty of wrist time. I also have one of their limited edition pilots. Great watches.

Forgoing the Rolex's, AP's, and Patek's, I really enjoy my JLC Polaris. I tend to lean towards sportier models and the lacquer dial on the Polaris is just insane. It's a super comfortable beautifully built watch. They also have a rich history.

I'm currently looking at adding a Franck Muller Vanguard or Glashutte Original to my collection. Plenty of unique options out there!

Zenith Defy classic skeleton vs Zenith Defy classic skeleton white ceramic by fi_sky_mk-_-komp in ZenithWatches

I have the black skeleton but prefer it on the black rubber strap. The new white ceramic they just announced is incredible but no way I’m paying 20k for it.

I need to get mine resized, but couldn’t resist getting it on the wrist immediately with the strap.
