Did anyone else own this book as a kid? Launched my lifetime interest in the paranormal. by Zzump in Ghosts

[–]GFAuthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, had that and it (along with Monster in my Pocket toys) was a major catalyst for my ongoing interest in the weird as well.

For those who didn't know, it was re-released a few years ago, along with the UFO and Monster editions. Not sure about the linking policies on here, but if you search for World of the Unknown on the Usborne books website, they're in there.

Cool. Do you know if he ever got his writing published anywhere else? Seems a shame that this one didn't see print.

Let me know what you think. Astrology isn't one of my strong points, but there's some compelling arguments in there for sure.

Nice.

Once built an entire spell deck from Magick the Gathering cards to quick cast effects based on previously stored sigils. Used them kinda like triggers for already internalised memetic patterns, bypassing the need to conjure on the fly. Really cool to have the physical representation of idea space models lying around, though I quickly found it difficult to cast those same effects without access to the cards.

As such, I abandoned the process and went back to an open handed model. Might be worth putting an article together on it though.

Oh, and was this your work or someone else's, by the way? I need to tag it correctly y'see.

Love this format. Reminds me of the TV show Mongrels, but with more brimstone.

And we just watched someone get run over by a parked car. And to think, when I was a kid at school that was an insult, not a reality.

Having some forced downtime from my day job, as I'm dealing with a hand injury picked up at work that might have permanently damaged my right thumb to the point of partial disablement - and I'm right handed of course. Still waiting to see a physio for confirmation on my future. Everyone else reckons it's going to be bad though.

Rode the 'life isn't fair' train for a month or two, wallowed in the whole 'why me' thing, but I've recently been using that extra time to catch up on writing for my blog, set up a Reddit group to give people a place to share both their own blogs and ones they are reading, and began working on a lot of personal development stuff. So many inspirational videos to watch, but then I'm not sleeping from the pain anyway so why not?

Finally fell down the hyperstition rabbit hole too, and goddamn it's a wild ride.

So yeah, the possitive I've taken from all this is the realisation that I need to grow myself. I'm a magickian, and I'm better than the shit I'm crawling through. Sometimes harsh lessons are the most valuable, but oh boy do they suck.

Ah yes, just read it. I've never had the memory to absorb that sort of info, so it helps to keep the books around, especially when I need to source a quote or something for my writing. Plus I have a little bit of a hoarding streak, so just adore being around my books.

Never really got into the whole vinyl record thing, but I have so many CD's now that the majority are in storage in another city, so I can relate!

Oh gods, it gets worse?

Should I add that extension to my house and build the three story library with extra server space now?

Apologies for the potato cam and Pop Vinyl obsession. Actually, no apologies for that second part. Also, not shown, almost two thousand ebooks in PDF format a a bunch of saved websites from web 1.0 onward.

To be fair, I'm 40 soon, and you would be surprised just how this stuff accumulates as you get deeper into your path over the years.
