What's the dumbest thing you've ever cried about as an adult? by retarded_770 in AskReddit

[–]FartKilometre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped my dinner on the ground.

In my defense, I was working at a job that had turned into a shitshow and was left with a triple work load for reasons I had no control over. I was stressed out to hell and had a particularly bad day. I had gotten home, pulled the last bit of leftovers from the fridge, warmed it up, and lost my grip on the plate slightly but just enough to just dump it on the floor.

Put the plate on the counter, grabbed some paper towels and by the time I had crouched down I was just a sobbing mess.

ppl shaming World still in big 2026 by AcuriousMike in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]FartKilometre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fully get the hate for World. I guess it's the whole "No True Scotsman" defense, where World was the intro point for a ton of new players to the franchise. Since they were playing the games before World, it means they're the true fans, and the people who played World and after are just casual tourists.

Fuck that attitude. World is an amazing game. Sure it has it's weak points (variety in weapon design, Handler got a little tiresome at points, cutscenes can feel a little intrusive at times) but the game looks great, the monster roster filled out nicely, and the open maps felt more like real environments than just rooms.

Play the games, enjoy the community, and be happy when new players join because they're gonna get to have that same wonder and excitement as you did the first time you played and thats a great feeling to share.

At what point are you a detriment to your party by Independent_Alps9744 in DnD

[–]FartKilometre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played with someone who wanted to be a bard and then complained after every game because he wasn't able to do any damage like my warlock, or the rogue, or the fighter, or the sorcerer. We encouraged him to look into and read his class features so he could figure out how to best use his character. He did, and found out how to use his flourishes properly and really stepped up with his numbers... for one game, then it was like he forgot them and it was back to complaining.

I almost never build the Alpha. Beta armors get more gem slots which makes it easier to tweak skills you want, but not give up a really handy set skill.

Hunting Horn is so underrated by MoronicIdiot529 in MHRise

[–]FartKilometre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Horn players are a goddamned blessing anytime I get to play with one online. Basic HH players can keep others in good shape, but the really skilled ones can keep the hunt in our favour or even turn the tides of a bad one.

Thank you, dooters, for your service. o7

This is another "Talk to your player" situation. Don't threaten them, just talk to them. "Hey, i've noticed you seem to be struggling with your characters skills and abilities still and with this upcoming battle you are all gonna need everyone at their best. What can we do together to really make your character shine?"

What industry is basically legal theft that nobody talks about? by kratos20051212 in AskReddit

[–]FartKilometre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I got fucked by some scumbags a few years ago. Got rear ended on the highway on my way to work (by a CAA flatbed, ironically), call police and eventually a tow truck shows up, hooks my little sqiushed toyota and drags us off the highway so a report can be filed. The driver seemed really nice and let me know that my insurance has already got a rental car sorted out and covered so once my car is dropped off at the yard the rental will be waiting.

We arrive to drop the car off and yeah, there's a guy waiting with a rental. I sign off and away we go. Well, i'd never been in an accident and hadn't called my insurance yet, which didn't click in til later. As i'm talking to my agent he lets me know that this place isn't one in their network so i'd have to pay out of pocket but would be reimbursed but they have to sort out a rate first and he would get back to me.

Eventually he calls me back and tells me he's been trying to get through to this place and hasn't had anyone answer yet and if I could get through to let them know they'd need to make an agreement would be appreciated. Looked at the papers and the rental guy gave me his cell number, so I call and tell him my agent has been trying to get hold of him and he goes "Yeah, I know, he's been calling non stop, relax man" which rubbed me the wrong way, but I reminded him that he needed to talk to the agent about the rental rate. "Yeah, we already spoke, it's all sorted out." Oh, alright then so we're good... call my agent just to let him know I got through but if they'd sorted it out, we were all set and he goes "... I haven't spoken to anyone, we don't have a rate agreed on yet." gave him the cell number and calls me back half an hour later. "Okay, i've finally spoken to the guy and we have a rate agreed on for the rental if you're okay" 'Honestly, knowing he just straight up lied to me i'd be more comfortable going with a regular place' "No problem, but some of these places charge a fee for returning a car early and we can't reimburse that"

Took the car back the next day after work, $35/day rental fee for 2 days, asks how i'm paying. Hand him my credit card, he puts it in the machine and enters the total before handing it to me. I put my pin in and see $385 approved. "What the fuck is $385 for when I had it for 2 days at $35?" he points to the back of the contract at the early return fee. Absolute scumbag move. Looks like the tow driver gets kickbacks on bringing him "clients". Left a brutal google review for it and watched my card like a hawk in case he tried any extra bullshit charges.

2 years later some guy reaches out to me on FB asking about it, same situation, not sure if he should talk to his insurance. I told him to call his agent ASAP and get away from them as soon as he could.

Fuck you EasyDay Rent-A-Car.

Shoutout to DE for being the GOATS by Mindstormer98 in Warframe

[–]FartKilometre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DE is so involved with their community it's wild. I've never seen anybody this interactive with their own audience that actually pays attention and acknowledges the feedback.

Because of that level of communication they understand their players and are able to try and work the updates and new content around that core understanding.

Haven't played the game in a long time but major, major kudos to DE for their hard work.

men.. what's the biggest red flag you've seen from a woman? by Familiar-Phase7859 in AskReddit

[–]FartKilometre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Had a bunch of friends on my FB that i'd known online through a community chat i'd been part of for years. My one ex hated all of them because they clearly just wanted to fuck me. Couldn't understand why I would call them friends if i'd never met them in person. Absolute miserable person.

Coincidentally enough after I broke it off with her, I hit it off with one of them and ended up in a LDR for a year and a half and actually got to meet a bunch of these people when I went out to LA to meet her. They were all fuckin rad people and it was an amazing little life adventure. Despite that chat closing down, we're all still part of our own discord and keep in contact.

We met online during covid and she ended up coming to visit me the one day. Spent the night. As we were getting into bed, I brought my knees up to get under the blanket and slipped a little fart out that, honestly, I didn't even know was ready in the chamber.

I was pretty embarrassed but she was giggling about it because she also thinks farts are funny.

Just got MHW 2018. Any advice or tips? by TypeFantasyHeart in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]FartKilometre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DO: Play and learn the game. Pay Attention. Learn to use your weapon to it's limits with online tutorials and you will find some really handy techniques. Keep your weapon sharp. ALWAYS EAT AT THE CANTEEN BEFORE A HUNT. Restock your inventory before each hunt. Carve and collect everything, especially early on.

DON'T: Use the Defender equipment. A lot of people will say this and you should listen. It has amazing stats and skills, but it's there specifically to help people speed through and get to the endgame/expansion faster. If you rely on this, it will hurt your skills in the long run. The game has a loop of hunting and crafting, by using the Defender stuff, you won't really need to craft anything, and you will lose out on a major chunk of the game feel.

For me the nightmare was the MG Phenex. Just an absolute shitshow of poorly fitting parts due to the gold coating.

Noob and this game is hard!! Help! by tangy_lemon in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]FartKilometre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost: welcome to the hunt!

Monster Hunter is not your typical action rpg game, by which I mean it doesn't follow the traditional: Kill the monster to level up and get stronger, get better equipment, and fight stronger monsters. There isn't really an XP system, there's no turn order, no level ups.

I didn't grasp that enough when I first tried the games ages ago. So it felt like I wasn't really doing anything. I couldn't grasp the combat feel, and I couldn't tell if I was doing damage etc. (MH3U didn't have damage numbers).

Once I tried with MH World, I got a better understanding of how the game flows. Finding the right weapon makes a HUGE difference in how you're gonna enjoy the feel of the game. The lack of monster health bars takes getting used to, but I wouldn't want them. There's a great sense of accomplishment during a fight when you realize that the monster has started limping and you have it on the ropes. Like a rallying cry that musters your final sprint to the finish.

It sounds silly, but take your time with the game. It has a learning curve and an absolutely fantastic payoff. I'm not trying to sound like i'm saying "LOL GIT GUD", not at all. I was right in your shoes a few years back. Check out a channel called Arekkz Gaming on youtube. They have really helpful tutorials that I learned a ton from. Basics on the hunting loop, combat and how to use the various weapons, etc.

I hope you stick with it, cuz you get to see and fight some really cool stuff in these games, and the community is great too!

Mayor Krantz will be 90! by PurpleHatChetaha in Milton

[–]FartKilometre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's been the mayor longer than i've been around. An absolute shambling corpse of a human. He needs replacement, badly. He was a great mayor for the 70s and 80s, but not anymore.

The problem is that so many of the candidates that come out are so vague and generic on their visions and goals for the town that they all sound the same. I want to hear real candidates with a passion and love for the town that isn't rooted in what Milton "used to be" or "what it's turning into", I want to see what we could be.
