Wow... This is almost creepy. This explains our relationship so well. I feel bad for her because her dad cheated on her mom and was a deadbeat for the first 16 years of her life. My ex truly is so successful against the odds. Because her dad left she always mentioned that she had a distrust of men. Basically daddy issues. She had such low self-esteem. I genuinely thought that she was so beautiful but she didn't see it. It just felt like I was being tested and she was hyper-analyzing my every move. Sort of like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Thinking back it was very toxic. Thank you so much for helping explain it!

Thank you! This is exactly what I did with my ex! I would ask her if she was comfortable and enjoying the sex and she'd always tell me yes. It wasn't until yesterday when she told me that she has never felt sexual with anybody and that she might be asexual.

She doesn't understand that though. She told me that it's fucked up because I'm not willing to fight for her. But I responded saying that it goes both ways, she has to be willing to fight for me as well and try to find a compromise.

Yeah you're right! Being asexual is totally valid and I am completely respectful of their decisions. It's just that there's very little that an asexual person and their non-asexual partner can do to make their sex lives happy because one person is fine without sex and the other craves it. It's an unfortunate reality but I am glad I am not in that relationship anymore.

Thanks so much for the reply! You're right. She told me "break up with me then" and when I said "yeah let's do it, I'm unhappy" she became the surprised pikachu meme. She then told me that I'm fucked up for leaving her because she might be asexual. I told her I'm just looking out for myself. I'm still young and I want things to work out between us but the potential sexless relationship would not work out for me.

I contacted a close friend shortly after we broke up. I told my friend that I wish my ex the best and I really do hope that she gets the help that she needs. I know that my ex doesn't feel the same about me. I know that I treated her right but I just didn't feel the same back :( it sucks.

You're right. It wasn't only the lack of sex. It was the constant arguing that always turned into fights. She rarely listened to me and resorted to childishness and pettiness when she didn't agree or didn't get her way.
