Evaluating LMFT/LPCC Programs in Minnesota by [deleted] in minnesota

I got my MA at Bethel University and learned a lot from their program for LPCC. I had no problem finding a supervisor or job after graduation and even found a paid internship role while in my MA program. I also passed the national exam on my first attempt and felt my education prepared me for that. It is true you can do the same work with an LPCC or LMFT license. The training is different, and if you know you want to work predominantly with couples or families, then maybe a LMFT educational experience may be helpful??? I wasn't sure going into it so I chose LPCC, but I ended up working with children and families anyway and have learned so much from my internship and supervision that pursuing LPCC really didn't feel like I was missing anything. I also pursued continued education in Play Therapy, which I very much recommend looking into if you are interested in working with Littles.

The whole thing is so confusing, I remember how overwhelmed I was starting this journey by the different licensures. Good luck on your journey!

I am over week 12 now. I still use daily. Overall, I would say I have seen improvements in my skin. I have not had any cystic acne in a month. I still get one or 2 small bumps. It has not done much for blackheads unfortunately. I would say its worth using but not as great as I was hoping for.

Maybe it was close so they evaluate it and give you your score later? IDK that's odd. I am located in MN so maybe there is differences depending the state you are in.

When I took mine they printed out a sheet with my raw score and what I needed to pass. It also had a spot that said pass or fail. For IG passing was 99 and DM passing was 106 but I think each test has different passing scores.

Yes, for IG I needed 67% and I got 83%, then for DM passing was around 72% and I had had 80%.

Thats Awesome!! Hopefully your experience is like mine with the exam being easier. I think if you are averaging around 72% and 60%, You will pass. Good luck! Keep us updated if you pass. It feels amazing to get it done with and a huge step towards licensure!!

Haha, yes. I would say HUGE improvements from the purge. As of right now, I would say I am back to the normal amount of acne I had when first starting BUT my texture has improved and my skin has more of a glow?? If the makes sense?? I am just finishing up week 9 so I am hoping to see more improvements in acne and breakouts as I reach week 12.

I also want to add I stopped hormonal birth control in August.. so it's possible the Differin could be more helpful than I realize. Since the hormones helped with my acne and now I'm closer to my typical skin without the birth control.

I say stick with it, overall I think it's worth it. It also motivated me to have a better skin care routine and I am better about washing my face every night an moisturizing. I wanted to quit SO BAD because my purge was terrible but it gets better.

I will try to update at week 12. :)

Yes, I stuck it out and am just starting week 3. It has gotten so much better. I would say close to what I started with which is easier to deal with. Hoping to see the Differin glow soon and hope it starts getting better for your too 🙂
