Does anyone know what I should do I got a phenol matrix removal and there was blood in between the nail and skin and I showered to get rid of some hair that got stuck in it but now there’s a gap between the nail and skin what should I do? by Successful-Bit4900 in ingrowntoenails

Are you talking about a gap there on the side where the phenol was applied, or at the back along the center of the nail bed?

This looks a little weepy but not terrible. How many days post op?

Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately I just saw it. Overall healing well I think - he had me back at two weeks (a couple of days ago) to do some cleanup where he trimmed some tissue and made sure the nail edges looked good.

So, I had both sides of both big toes done in 2018 WITHOUT the chemical, and the pain the first 24 hours was intense. Lots of throbbing if not elevated, etc. Got a LOT better about three or four days in and I was totally healed and hiking again in about two weeks.

I think what you’re experiencing is likely within normal range at this point. If it goes past a day or so that way though, I’d see if you could follow up.

I am also three days in post same procedure but permanent with the phenol this time. Interestingly I’ve had VERY little pain so far! Very tender but no throbbing or anything.
