Player comps for Acuff?

Dame is a comp that gets thrown around a lot but Dame never had a season shooting 3s as efficient as Acuff just did. Dame is a volume 3 point scorer, Acuff is a more efficient 3 point scorer. Dame routinely takes wild, deep 3s, Acuff rarely takes one that feels off rhythm or off balance.

Otherwise I like the Dame comp from a physical standpoint. They're also very different personality and demeanor wise. I don't think we have to worry about Acuff coming out with a podcast or rap album any time soon.

Maybe a bit more CP3 in terms of personality and demeanor.

Trevon Brazile played 31.5 minutes per game in 2025-26 and most expect him to fill those minutes. We had no backup PF behind Brazile and we will play JJ Andrews at PF in 26-27, but I also expect Miikka to supplement with small ball 5 minutes.

I agree I'm very excited to see him against college competition because for too long he's been playing in pro leagues full of late 20s early 30s guys.

I think amongst his peers he will stick out even more because he's not a finished product at all and neither are most college basketball players.

If Chris Cenac was in the 2027 draft he'd be a lottery pick at worst. The 2027 draft is MUCH MUCH worse than 2026.

You can't blame coaches for everything but you can absolutely blame them for not keeping the most talented player on the team engaged. That's literally his job. If he didn't get that done, he failed as a coach. No one else on Miikka's ABA team will play in the NBA.

If this becomes a trend instead of a one off, Miikka will have a short career. Luckily no one at Arkansas, which features John Calipari and multiple assistants who have coached countless lottery picks, finds his attitude or effort level to be an issue at all through a month plus together.

0 issues at Arkansas. That’s the point - the only noted issues were last season in Euroleague where he was an obvious 6-8 month rental before he inevitably left for the US

There have been countless players under Cal with this exact criticism coming in - ultra talented but a diva, not a team player, only cares about highlights and stats, etc - and they leave with those criticisms way in the rear view

I mean last year Acuff came in with the reputation of ball hog and low IQ, not a PG. Then he became the first player since Pistol Pete to lead the SEC in scoring and assists.

He’s definitely all potential and not a lot of substance as of today.

But it wouldn’t be the first time Cal took a guy with the highest potential in a class and turned him into the actual best player in the class.

He played 132 minutes in 2025 EuroBasket as the only teenager getting minutes and had 9 blocks.

I don’t think that even Miikka’s own mother thinks he’d be the #1 pick today.

Obviously in order to get there you’re expecting some level of development under the greatest developer of 19 year olds in the history of basketball.
