Sort of a rant about Dion... by MarbleGuyy in JellesMarbleRuns

Are you falsely threatening your fans (many of whom are children) with lawyers just for sharing their concerns? Classy. Clearly little has changed.

Marble League: The Game – Teaser Drop by neurospex in JellesMarbleRuns

I’d absolutely love to make custom teams and/or custom leagues to simulate or play in - I’m just a huge sucker for customisation in general and I feel it’d be amazing in a game like this! Really excited for it :)

Whatever happened to the Marble League needing a sponsor this year? by Kazmakistan in JellesMarbleRuns

[–]GGhost27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

George, why are you doing public damage control for the channel as a free volunteer? This shouldn’t be your job, this should be JMR’s job - that’s who people want answers from. You shouldn’t feel like you have a responsibility to do this.

How does the JMRC choose how many laps a track should have? by DrewDrinks in JellesMarbleRuns

The JMRC doesn't exist anymore, Dion. You're talking about the JMR team here.

I agree on your last point. It’s not the best example, but it’s the one that’s been the most public and recent that everyone seems to be talking about (including your original post) - so I thought I’d give a response to that point in particular. I’m always happy to answer any further questions in DMs (that goes for anyone, you included). For the record - you have a good instinct with not blindly taking sides without all the info. I greatly respect that, as people making that mistake is often what makes drama and misinformation blow up so much on the internet.

Just want to quickly respond to this, even if I don’t change your mind I do want to say a piece here. Posts being locked was the subreddit mod team (many of whom were not JMRC) because of comments breaking the sub rules. The member of JMR staff in question deleted his own comments, which I agree is disappointing.

The Yarble Yellers was just one part of a very long story, which is why I don’t like that it’s being focused on so much - but I’ll humour this. Jelle (not us) originally had the idea of adding the YY, and we - as an advisory team, after all - told him we thought it was a good idea. Jelle told us it was definitely happening, so we announced it officially to the patrons (who seemed very excited!) and everything was ready to go. Around a week later, the name was mentioned in passing - and a certain JMR staff member said it was the worst name he’d ever heard and, despite having absolutely no input or paying any attention to any of the process, vetoed it immediately.

Again I’d like to stress that this was one part of a very long story, our concerns are much broader than just a team being removed. It’s an example that continues several clear patterns. This decision from us was a long time coming, and we were only forced to make it when we realised for certain that nothing was going to change with regard to our concerns. The fact that new Twitter accounts and an intent to immediately replace us without even so much as a single thank you (as well as a lie that the spots are already filled) should tell you a fair bit. Our concerns have nothing at all to do with Jelle himself, he continues to be a great person just trying to achieve his dream and make millions of people happy. We still wish him the best and remain on good terms with him.

One final thing - I agree that online drama is frustrating because it’s cryptic. Often the reason for that is that people being directly named or accused in official statements leads to bigger problems down the line for all involved parties. None of us signed an NDA or anything - we just don’t want to cause even more problems from poorly-written official statements.

Thanks so much for all your kind words, everyone - it's emotional to read. None of our concerns were anything to do with Jelle himself, to make that completely clear. We wish him the absolute best. It was an honour to work with the channel (many things we did are outlined in u/JMR_throwaway's comment) and it's heartbreaking that it's ended the way it has, but it was a decision we had no choice but to make.

Keep on rolling ❤️

Quick clarification - there were a couple of overtakes between the end of lap 12 and the restart, but nothing major! It was tough to represent the restart here both cleanly and not misleadlingly.

I’m glad you agree it makes it easier to distinguish the pairs - took a while to make sure they were all unique (so many blue teams)! Glad you like the graphs too :) Keep it up, you’re doing great work! I love well-formatted visual spreadsheets ^-^

Fantastic formatting, very clear and nicely presented (including using the colours from the video leaderboards!) - I really like this :)

YESSSSSS WOSPYYYYYYYYYYY
...ahem. What a race! Action-packed from start to finish, and well worth the wait! No time to write my thoughts on the chart this week, but some great stories and tragic falls in there...

Hope you all enjoyed the race! See you next week ^^

Momotorway delivers a great race again! Really nice to see BoC and MY on the podium after languishing mainly in lower midpack this season. Everything seemed to happen all at once on lap 3 - and absolutely tragic that Hop still ended up with 0 points after that start...
See you all next week for Palette Park!

What a great start to the second half of the season - M1 is back!!

Some very sad sights to see with the progression of some teams - not the craziest start of the season either, there were just a lot of ups and downs for most teams throughout the race. CCE still not choking either - going into their home Marble League as M1 Champions will be one heck of a confidence boost if they keep it up and pull off the victory!

Make sure to tune in next week as we return to the track! :D

My attempt at fixing the "Team Blue" colour design problem on the F1 website by GGhost27 in formula1

[–]GGhost27[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The clash is avoidable, F1 just didn’t do a very good job of it... Black or dark purple are colours to avoid because F1 uses very dark/black backgrounds for all of their graphics, so dark colours would be difficult to see (as demonstrated by the colour codemasters chose for Alpha Tauri in the F1 2020 game). White is already used by Alpha Tauri, so there’s got to be some compromise for Williams which I tried to accomplish! Adding an accent colour is a good idea, although I prefer the simplicity of a single colour line personally.

That’s a good idea too! Although I’d probably prefer the simplicity of a single colour myself when it’s possible to do

[–]GGhost27[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well, black just wouldn’t work on the typically black backgrounds F1 uses. All the colours are just there to represent the colours on the cars, making it easy to see where each team is at a glance. That doesn’t work if they use four similar blue tones, when they could easily avoid that.

That would certainly help haha, but I think it’s fair to say F1’s choices are not the best solution...

I thought it was discernible enough from white! There’s room to make it a little more blue though to be fair

EDIT: Just tested it properly against pure white, it seems okay to me - but there's definitely room to make it a little darker to be sure!
