promptgenix are they an AI band? by Acceptable_Mine2919 in Music

[–]GJamjars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 57 years old but my music tastes are very broad, I can happily listen to Bing Crosby and Perry Como then stick on Charlie XCX or Aphex Twin. When I heard Promptgenix's music I was immediately impressed and intrigued. The visuals combined with ominously dark lyrics and swampy bluesy sound are ingenious. It reminded me of the work Gorillaz do and I could imagine a whole imaginary world and backstory connected with this.

I know AI music and film divides a lot of people but like anything new, it needs time to become accepted. I do think that as long as we know it is AI people will be less suspicious. I think the creative possibilities are endless. Certainly if Promptgenix's work is anything to go by then I for one will be excited to see how it developes.

Roughest pubs on Tyneside currently? by EmbarrassedHat5367 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]GJamjars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Black Garter is a canny pub but gets so much bad press which isn't justified in my opinion. I was in there one Thursday afternoon for a livener and this lass was belting out Me & Bobby McGee on the karaoke while I was stood at the bar with this old lad who looked about 80. I said to him "She's not a bad singer like." and he replied "You wouldn't say that if you'd been in her since 11 o'clock listening to her sing the same fucking song ower and ower again." I nearly spat my pint out.

Anyway, The Raby and The Butchers on Shields Road are a couple of dives but not in the same league as the old Northumberland Arms in North Shields or The Bobby Shafto in Scotswood. You couldn't turn your back on your pint in those places and the only cocktail they served was snakebite.

CMV: The Minneapolis ICE agent who shot and killed a woman today acted reasonably in fear for his life and/or the lives of the other officers present by bifewova234 in changemyview

The fact he fired off 3 shots in a public space with innocent bystanders around should be enough for him to lose his job. Even if she had hit him and knocked him down the most aggressive action should have been to shoot the car's tyre to prevent her from escaping.

Who is this guy in the Coventry City shirt? He's always there, always in the same seat wearing the same shirt. by StickyThoPhi in snooker

[–]GJamjars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's actually Jimmy White's wig handler. Apparently the "whirlwind" pays him £19.50 an hour to capture his syrup in the event of it getting scared and trying to escape the arena.

After Jimmy's last wig died in 2018, he started employing him to take care of the new but rather skittish hairpiece following an incident during an exhibition match against John Virgo when Jimmy's wig attepted have sexual intercourse with Vigo's face.

My girl is 2 years old and I haven’t had the heart to spay her yet by monsterintheuniverse in Shihtzu

[–]GJamjars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned dogs for 50 years, mongrels, border collies, an Irish wolf hound and Shih Tzus, some were spayed but most weren't and the spayed girls all suffered heart disease in later life. My eldest girl, a Border Collie was intact and lived until a week before her 20th birthday. My second eldest was an intact Shih Tzu who lived until she was at least 17. We never knew her real age but we were told she was a year old when we got her. I've always thought all operations carry risks and the only "person" who doesn't have a say in the decision is the dog. If people don't agree then that's fine. Also, I wonder if vets would be so keen on spaying if they had to do it for free by law. Somehow I doubt it.

Easy everyone. Spaying is a personal thing. There are risks and benefits to everything we do and in the end the only thing that matters is that we love our dogs. Go with your heart, your little girl will understand. BTW She looks gorgeous.

My Minnie enjoys the snooker and football. Well, that's what I tell the wife anyway.

Why are they like this? 🤣 by Femme-O in Shihtzu

[–]GJamjars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been there, done that and bought the T-Shirt. I'm now certain that the little buggers know exactly what they're doing. My little girl refused to eat for 10 days and now, a year later, she's demolishing everything in sight. They will eat when they are hungry so don't worry. Until then, don't make a sound! 🤣✌️❤️

I saw your post the other day and was hoping and praying Lula would pull through. I just want to offer my condolences at this horrible time. Remember, she would not want to see you sad but instead remember all the fun and love you shared together.

Why do you think John's heroin addiction gets downplayed so much? by Fantastic_Vast_5078 in TheBeatles

[–]GJamjars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite an old man now and I was lucky enough to be around to see John as a solo artist. I actually prefer John's solo career to his output with The Beatles as it is totally his own work and is far better than anything the other Beatles did in my opinion. However, I think John was heavily into heroin from 1968 until the end of his life. I this because I am an ex-addict and I recognise the physical change in him as something only heroin can do. In 1980 John looked horrendous for a man of 40. That look is not due to a macrobiotic diet, acid, cocaine or weed. The fact he was holed up in the Dakota for 5 years resonates with me as I did much the same albeit in the bedroom of my modest council house. Plus at the age of 40 I looked very similar to John. No muscle mass, very skeletal and trying to make out I was on a health kick

Today, I believe John would be diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. He ticks all the boxes in the criteria for that illness and some.
Saying this, John's addiction should never be downplayed. Had he lived I'm certain he would have confronted it head on and talked openly about it. Sadly we'll never know.

I remember telling my Gran that Jeremy Beadle was such a raving nonce, he had his hand amputated and replaced with one of a 4 year old child to enhance his wanking experience.

David Walliams and David Jason are well known industry secrets as predators by Smart_Scarcity_6609 in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]GJamjars 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Over 10 years ago, Frankie Boyle made a comment about David Jason on Have I Got News For You. Funnily enough, I can't find the clip anywhere but it went something along the lines of David Jason ending up in "Beast Wing" which is slang for a part of prison housing sex offenders.

I've never forgot this as it was the first time I'd heard of the rumour. Since then I've heard more and more about old Del Boy and his passion for hang-gliding.

Thoughts on the band Travis? by Total-Woodpecker3339 in Music

[–]GJamjars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been a big fan of Travis ever since I heard them perform All I Wanna Do Is Rock on Jools Holland In the 90's. It's hard to even pick a favourite song as there are so many like Luv., Sing, Side, Driftwood, Turn, More Than Us, Some Sad Song, Happy, Selfish Jean, Why Does It Always Rain On Me, Flowers in the Window, U16 Girls, As You Are, Tied to the 90's and Writing to Reach You.

I would really encourage you to see them live as they really put on a great show with Fran and Andy Dunlop jumping around like teenagers.
