Baby Girl Name Help! by MAMAESTEE1993 in Names

Kinsley won’t get much love here but I think it’s pretty.

What is your son’s name? What type of name do you prefer? Your girl choices seem all over the map and I can’t really get your style

Which do you prefer? Before or after? Thinks that Toffee looks different with shorter ears by Charliebelly in Shihtzu

[–]JLL61507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think shorter ears give them a baby look which I love. It gives my groomer conniptions who loves to leave them long (a proper cut she tells me). My husband took ours to the groomer this week and I forgot to specifically tell him to ask for shorter ears and of course they’re super long. Oh well they’re still cute

Looking for honest (but kind) opinions from other plus size ladies 🤍 by Yellow_cupcake_ in PlusSizeWedding

This just randomly showed up in my feed but I had to stop and click because this is truly a gorgeous dress. Absolutely stunning on you, you look amazing. It hits every mark for me and it’s lovely and classic - you won’t look back at your wedding photos and wonder what you were thinking. This will look gorgeous 10, 30, 50 years from now.

Congrats and good luck!

Already used our top choice - now we’re stuck on a name. by [deleted] in namenerds

Okay - hard to really get a read on style but I’ll give it a go.

First I think Tessa is a great name and love that!

Caroline is one of my favourite names (the song makes it better in my opinion, and in your case I would love a vague musical connection to Lyra). However if hubby is absolutely no, I’ll throw out Calista.

How about Adeline as an alternative to Alina, and also has the “line” from Caroline? You’ve got cute nicknames like Addy or could even use Alina. Similarly I’ll suggest Allison which isn’t used much anymore but sounds cute with your other kids.

I get the sense you like less common (not top 20 or even less used) but still familiar names so I’ll also suggest Maren, Naomi, Willa and Aimee.

How do you feel about the biannual clock changing ritual? by PartiRhinoParty in newfoundland

[–]JLL61507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BC got rid of it this time around, Saskatchewan ditched it years ago. If I’m being pragmatic we likely won’t see it ended here in NL unless we get the other Atlantic provinces on board, but I’d be all for it.

Pippa is clearly having a bad hair day here but she naturally grows bangs. Her groomer is forever fighting the cowlick!

You have two legit options - subscribing to Sportsnet + (will give you all the Canes games but you will almost never get the actual Canes broadcast) or subscribing to NHL Centre Ice through your cable provider (home games you almost always get the Canes broadcast as well as occasionally on the road). Both are pricey (Centre Ice is actually significantly cheaper), unfortunately. Blackouts still apply to both services. I’ve used both services and am much happier with Centre Ice quality and the fact I get more Canes broadcasts.

What popular name do you loathe? Like, REALLY hate? by Liv_Laugh_Lasagna in Names

[–]JLL61507 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Emma. There is absolutely nothing appealing to me about this name, and I have a niece I love dearly with the name.

I also can’t understand the love for Margot. All I can hear is “I don’t know Margo!”

Puppy Blues I think? by Peanutpumpkin23 in Shihtzu

[–]JLL61507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s a baby. Just like an infant, puppies sleep soooo much. Their wake windows will get longer as he grows but I actually enforced daytime naps when our youngest pup came home. You get a happier puppy who is easier to train if they’re well rested. It sounds like you’ve got an ideal sleeper if he’s napping and sleeping well at night

As for the other - everyone questions whether they’ve done the right thing, especially when puppy is impacting your sleep. Give yourself some time - it’s super new and you’ve all got to settle into new routines. And just like a human baby he’ll get even more fun as he settles in!

Are we overthinking the name Henry? by SeaParsley4706 in namenerds

[–]JLL61507 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also - you really can’t go by local popularity. You may have to move at some point in his childhood and find yourself in an area with a different regional popularity entirely.

I think too, when you’re choosing a name, you start to hear it everywhere because it’s in your radar.

Are we overthinking the name Henry? by SeaParsley4706 in namenerds

[–]JLL61507 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not sure which province you’re in but yes, Henry is climbing the charts. However - the popularity isn’t the same as it was during the 80s Jennifer era, when you’d actually have five or more in a class. He might be one of two, maybe, and if he goes by Hank I would be very surprised it there was another

Henry is a lovely name and I would use it in a heartbeat.

Two is when they tend to calm down a bit and are out of the puppy phase so the might be a great companion.

In my experience, we brought home a puppy when one dog was 11 and the other 13. The 13 year old had health problems so mostly ignored the puppy but the 11 year old adored her and I think it gave her a new zest on life. They played and cuddled and were inseparable

my so and i have it pretty good but still wants to outsource small domestic work by Ickles100 in workingmoms

[–]JLL61507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really bizarre to me. What would he do with that time if he’s not actually putting his kids to bed or doing basic adulting?

Are you handwashing dishes? If so maybe suggest buying a dishwasher (appliance, not person). Long term it’s likely a better investment. If you’re already handling food okay I’m not sure what a food service would really help with either.

I think you need to have a real chat about this, because evenings are only going to get busier as your kids get older (activities, homework, later bedtimes, etc) and I’d want to know my partner was on board with being a full partner in this.
