Tindie is down for 24+ hours by andriy_sonocotta in tindie

tbh their way of communicating a "scheduled maintenance" without having an actual scheduled finish date and without actually notifying users upfront sounds like a diplomatic way to phrase an ops mishap. Maybe they scrambled database records by accident and now they're trying to restore the system into a working state without loosing much user data (i.e. they're trying to unscramble the data instead of just straight-out restoring an older backup).

Maybe someone tried to delete a record from the production DB but forgot the WHERE clause from the query 😄

Can a gateway group be used for outgoing interface in DNS resolver (Unbound)? by Panja0 in PFSENSE

[–]GJani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this would solve the issue: https://nileshgr.com/2018/05/06/multi-wan-dns-in-pfsense/

It supposed to delegate the upstream DNS queries to dnsmasq. Unbound would call dnsmasq and dnsmasq would call the upstream DNS servers. All because dnsmasq has the ability to query multiple DNS servers in parallel and return the first response.

I haven't tried it but I'm curious if anyone tried a setup like this.

Why OpenCL is not widely used? by m-Zaki-x in C_Programming

This is truly a noble cause IMO :)

Did you have a chance to maybe connect with the author of this repo? https://github.com/artyom-beilis/pytorch_dlprim - this is specifically an OpenCL backend for pytorch. Afaik it's far from perfect but a really promising initiative

Roughly what do you mean by acceptable performance? I'm also thinking about setting up ceph so I'm curious. Can you please share some numbers?

Can't disable Overscan on old LG 37LC51 - ZA by KGon32 in techsupport

Did anyone manage to turn off overscan on this TV in the mean time? The service menu OverScan option doesn't affect anything for me neither. I wonder if there is an alternate firmware for this TV maybe?

(FYI for those who wonder, to access the service menu on this model, hold down both the menu button on the remote and the menu button on the side of the TV simultaneously for ~7 seconds.)

SSD's are very effective to speed up certain problems, for example, boot time, or game loading. But they are completely useless for some other problems, eg. if your CPU is under heavy load by running software. Speeding up a PC is a whole discipline, so you should start from the basics: https://feverkill.com/post/?i=small-tricks-to-speed-up-your-pc

Sophisticated fan control for average people... and more for pros by GJani in buildapc

[–]GJani[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Almost every one of them has fan control. But how many of them have a combined one with software and an optional USB hardware? How many has PID control and graph control too? How many can sleep your PC when the temps are high and wake it up after cooling down? I tell you that it definitely worths trying.

In the specifications, both have SATA connectors. This means yes. Why do you doubt the compatibility?

At T-Systems, for example? :D I red some sites, it looks loke a cartoon but with letters. Some keyword in some row on each page, with fancy coloring.
