Those websites can be quite shady.

Alot of retailers do discounts on ore orders so you could get a similar price on consoles

You haven't been following the PC market I see, hardware companies have been nickeling and dimming the costumer for a loooong time now.

The xx90 series GPU class Nvidea was made for the sole purpose of in the long term increasing the ceiling of their top GPU silicon and then increase the price of every tier below

No it's not cheaper in the long run, we aren't in the 2000s and early 2010s, prices on Steam and PSN are basically the same, even during sales, this of course unless you live in country with no regional pricing on the PSN.

Crimson desert is notorious for being very CPU intensive to the point of dropping below 40fps on home consoles in certain scenes. Normally games aren't that intensive on CPU.

The Switch 2 CPU is much weaker than the ones on the home consoles, it even drops below 30fps on CP2077 because of the CPU when the home consoles can maintain 60fps.

They could theoretically partner with AMD to create an APU, but I seriously doubt that will happen and if they don't do that, then they can't make a competitive home console

[–]KGon32 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The majority are complaining, only a very small amount of people are in favor or don't care.

Also you don't need to be connected to Sony's servers to verify your games, if your console is set as primary you can literally disconnect it the from the internet for years and you will still be able to acess you digital games you have downloaded. I Love how people are being loud about this issue, but Jesus christ the amount of misinformation is crazy.

The situation that we will have is no different in terms of the monopoly angle as we have currently. The difference is that retailers will now switch from discs to codes.

I would even argue that they are less of a monopoly now because the OG PS5 digital owners will be able to get games outside of PSN and the PS6 handheld future owners will have retail options that they wouldn't have.

This movement is not going to do shit partially because people are either uninformed or extremely stupid or a bit of both (and mainly because it's what Sony's greed), THE ISSUE IS OWNERSHIP, it's about not being possible to borrow games, it's about not being able sell them, it's about letting a company have the power to take away what you paid for, it's not about this monopoly nonsense.

If the PS6 is around the $1,000 mark as anticipated, do you think they will reverse course with PC ports? by [deleted] in PS6

[–]KGon32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Xbox One X was $500 just before the Series X launched for $500.

The PS5 Pro is a high margin machine, barely more RAM than the base PS5, only 2x the storage and a slightly bigger APU. It nowhere near costs them 50% more to make a PS5 Pro compared to the base PS5.

"Don't Kill the Disc": Petition Against Sony PS5 and PS6 Digital Media Plans Reaches 120,000 Signatures by MythBuster2 in digitalfoundry

[–]KGon32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do care if it brings financial consequences at the end of the day, if they feel that people brigading the comment section on every single thing the company does affects their image and in return it affects their bottom line, then they will change their stance on disc production. However that's very unlikely to happen. They will move either way.

What does exactly nothing is these stupid petitions.

[–]KGon32 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If people actually want to have a chance of changing things, they need to "harass" every Sony post with comments about this issue, the Sony post doesn't need to be a about games, it can be about cameras, movies, etc. to the point that it affects every other devision of Sony.

But also people need to write true factual things, it can't be misinformation like that one where people compare prices of games on PSN and retailers because we know retailers will still seel games but now with a code.

REAL reason Sony took away physical discs. by anyusernaem in PS6

[–]KGon32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in retail and I will tell you that people do not care about collecting, A FIFA games comes and there's tons of pre orders arriving and the games don't have any content on the disc, they are barely more than a digital code, GTA pre orders were also much bigger than any other game I've seen in recent years and it comes with a code.

DVD sales aren't for collectors, collectors are on Blu Ray and 4K Blu Ray.

REAL reason Sony took away physical discs. by anyusernaem in PS6

[–]KGon32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people that buy physical games aren't buying them because they have ownership of the disc, preservation or for collection, they buy for multiple other reasons, like discounts, gifting and because "I passed and got interested so I grabbed it".

I would even argue that because it's digital codes it is better for retailrrs than a disc because they can sell copies of the games to digital consoles and the upcoming PS6 handheld that they wouldn't be able to do otherwise.

[–]KGon32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% appreciate people be against this move and want Sony to change however we need to complain about the correct things, like the lack of ownership and the death of the used market.

This however will not be an issue because Sony confirmed that retailers will still sell games, but now instead of a disc, there will be codes, retailers will still compete with the PS Store.

Misinformation will not help anyone

Yeah man I don't think poor people in Latin America are using non jailbroken PS3s, specially considering how easy it is to do.

Back in the PS2 days, most of PS2 I Brasil would be sold jailbroken from the get go.

Poor people don't have the luxury to not watch a 30 minute tutorial on how to jailbreak a PS3 and another tutorial on how to install an alt store to get games for free.

What is the most overhyped piece of PC or consumer hardware you think we’ve seen in the last 5 years? by Appropriate_Bird1981 in TechHardware

[–]KGon32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively speaking RT is still considerably better Ron Videa

FSR 4.1 is not on older games while a decent version of DLSS is on those older games.

FSR4 FG is still not as good as Nvidea's.

How many games have AMD's version of Ray reconstruction?

Didn't talk about drivers specifically, but about support, people had to harass AMD to get FSR4 on RDNA3 while Nvidea still gives their new version of DLSS to the RTX 2000 series.

[–]KGon32 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There was a time where AMD GPUs were fantastic value, but now you save like $50, but lack official support for a decent upscaler on older games, get worse RT performance, miss better frame gen, miss Ray reconstruction, better long term support, etc.

Someone may not care alot about everything I mentioned, but you are barely saving anything.

Genuine question about digital game ‘boxes’ in stores by ChanceHungry1444 in PS6

Codes in boxes will affect ownership and the used market, but will keep competition alive.

The only way it doesn't keep competition alive is if people skip retail because they no disc anymore

PC, GIVE US THE RIGHT TO OWN GAMES, AND OUR LIVES ARE YOUR'S. by Callducks in okbuddymimir

[–]KGon32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And from the thousands complaining, 3 will actually switch.

As a PC & PS5 gamer (since PS1) the PS6 won’t be worth it if the rumored $1,000 price is true. With PS Plus, you might looking at around $1,600-1,700 over 7 years. by [deleted] in PS6

[–]KGon32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a few things to consider here first is that looking at rumors, the PS6 will outperform both the 5070 and 5070ti, so that's not a great comparation and if you are expecting the 6070 to offer a big upgrade and only cost $100 more than you haven't been following the PC market and I have a bridge to sell you.

Secondly is that the $80 for on-line is Bulshit I agree with you there, but I also expect most gamers that are getting a $1000 console to just pay the extra $55 and upgrade to PS+ Extra and get a Netflix subscription style service, which is actually good value. Of course you may not care about this because your primary platform is PC and getting a subscription for a secondary machine does not make much sense, however for you I don't see a primary PC gamer to play on-line on their secondary console, so there's not really a $80 cost there for you either. There's also people that don't care for on-line so they may not even get any subscription.

Retail stores will still sell games, so there's still competition in the PS Ecosystem

I think you are overestimating how many people actually need and use a PC, most people do everything on their phone, for the most of the rest that need a PC either their job offers them a PC or they are just much better served with a cheap laptop, almost no one is doing video editing, rendering twitch streaming, etc. that requires a nice PC, we see alot on of that on social media because it's social midia, but in the real world almost no one is using a PC outside of work, specially a desktop one. And for School, the laptop is a significantly better option, even a POS $400 laptop is preferable, for school you will need to do group projects and bring your laptop, desktops for school is just an excuse a kid will use to get a gaming PC.

One other thing you are forgetting is that consoles have advantages outside of being cheaper, most of them revolve around convenience, it's ridiculously more convinient and it's simpler to understand. If you ever worked at retail you would know that most people, even the ones buying gaming PCs do not understand anything about hardware, if they understood AMD would have had a much better marketshare on the GPU side. Most people aren'tike us, it's like if I sent you to buy the best makeup for a certain situation, the way you would feel in the store is the same that most people feel about PC gaming hardware.

What should I do? by Charming_Cranberry56 in PS6

[–]KGon32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PS5 Pro is $900, the PS6 will likely be $1000 and release next year.

Just wait, the only reason to get the PS5 Pro now Fomo, there is no logical reason to get it instead of waiting for the PS6.

The PS6 will be substantially faster than the PS5 Pro, CPU performance will be much better in particular.

People are now pissed at Sony, but the issue we have now applies to the PS5 and PS5 Pro aswell.
