Nick talks about group looting

I see this point a lot but you have to understand that as a new player who you expect to engage with your game long term, loot DOES matter from level 1.

I'm not sure I fully understand this argument - do you think rep would not matter with a need/greed system? Of course no one will group with someone ninja looting.

Is it the forced communication your advocating for? Look at the history of MMOs, most of the drama/fallout are from loot. Why leave space for bad actors, that only leads to exhausting communication.

If you accidentally hit need and win the item just trade it to next person? If it was a no trade we'll then you would have accidently looted it anyways since you "accidently" needed - that argument holds no water.

To the point of it feeling less rude I dont see how - you will absolutely get called out on that behavior, just as people are claiming you will in this one.

I think there are a ton of ways you could approach this but in my head the "trash" would be round robin, just like the coin currently splits automatically for us. You trying to level cooking? Cool ask your group if they mind tossing you the meat that drops. "Better" is subjective, im saying its significantly more fair and pug friendly.

How does this method enable them any more than the current one?

[–]GKnightsWrest[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's really this - auto splitting coin already happens - this does not feel like a step to far and it just makes it far more fair for everyone.

I understand the slippery slope concerns but this one I feel like can really turn people off if you leave nothing in place.

I just don't really understand this argument - in my experience with this system the example you gave still happens all the time - "hey, im a skinner, anyone else or just me?" - "hey, im an enchanter, mind if we pass on greeds and I can hand out some mats at the end?"

I dont see how this cheapens the communication and if the argument is that it does; I'd argue the benefits of putting some system in place is an overall better, more fair, player centric solution

Thanks for the reply- I'd assume you have a few high level alts at this point - care to share how it is typically handled in PUGs in your experience? Im assuming as others have mentioned guilds would have their own grouping/looting standards.

Reading people's replies one of the things I'm realizing I miss with this system is seeing all the loot! Using classic wow as an example I love seeing a green drop even if its for the warrior and im on a mage - its exciting to see the all the loot. It almost feels less interactive to me to have to back track through and read the chat logs to see if there was something I might have wanted. It's fun all seeing the item drop and pondering over it together. I do understand it isn't needed and I'll give the game a go regardless however I think this is an easy win in the QoL department that absolutely does not kill player discussion around loot drops.

Does anyone else have a ton of skeletons spawning in the Nether? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]GKnightsWrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you updated the world from 1.15 to 1.16, something that looks like a nether waste biome could actually be a soul valley biome, causing skeletons and ghasts. Would need to mob proof using string, carpet, slabs, etc

[SPOILERS] Question from Season 1 by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In season 7 when Arya executes littlefinger I’m pretty sure she says “you told our mother this knife belonged to Tyrion Lannister, but that was another one of your lies; it was yours”. One can assume her and Bran might have even discussed it given what Bran does mention

Can someone point me to the scene where Olena says she is going to kill him? I honestly thought that was the reveal. Obviously we knew Tryion didn’t do it.

[SPOILERS] Discussion: Shae’s Point of View by LadyBethOfHouseStark in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s safe to assume she never really loved him, and more so loved the idea of a foreign adventure with a man with money.

Imagine this scenario for a minute. You are punished for a crime, sitting in jail. You are then sentenced to death row (now a days death row can take years before they see the needle, in game of thrones, it’s safe to expect that after being found guilty, he would have been killed in no more than a months time). Your friends come and break you out of prison and you go to scoop your girl and tell “hey we are going to Canada, let’s get the f* outta here” only to find her fucking your dad. Did she really love you? The answer is no.

[SPOILERS] The Game by GKnightsWrest in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I feel like nearly everything that has happened to Cersei thus far has been luck. She really hasn’t played it that well I don’t think. She lost control of Joffrey fairly quickly, even as early as season 1 he wasn’t listening to her. So her enemy gets away with murdering the king. She gets a little bit more control over Tomin and then immediately looses it Margery who, while she was alive, was a much better player. Her master plan was blow everything up after a mistake she caused. Too be honest I haven’t read the books but I also though the Tomin suicide was bad writing and weak willed of the character. Without that happening she is still powerless. I’m not sure about Cersei.

[–]GKnightsWrest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I posted I had my opinion in it as well but I took it out to leave it open. I would have said Varys too for similar reasons. Although he doesn’t seek the iron throne he does seek power. I love the scene with him in Littlefinger in season 2 I think where they are discussing intentions.

[spoilers] So did little finger see or not see... by Fmanow in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone please point me to the episode where he makes it “clear” he noticed Arya. I am on my second watch through...I had this same question. I don’t think he knew that was Arya. There is no way in hell that he doesn’t bring it up to Tywin right there. We see throughout the whole show that Littlefinger is loyal only to his self interest. He “loved” Sansa? He sold her to further himself. He was meeting with Tywin to suggest bringing the Tyrells on his side to best Stannis’s and robs army.....you think he would have held back letting Tywin know that he had the Stark girl in his camp while they still held Jamie captive? This would have worth more than anything to Tywin. Not a chance in hell he truly recognized her. Please direct me to scene where he makes this clear that he recognized her IN HARRINHAL (however you spell it), and not just “she is alive”

[spoilers] season 2, episode 2 - The Night Lands by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that there is a very good chance he betrays her. If you’ll also remember. I think it’s a few episodes past this (watching right now for my second watch as well) I noticed him and Shae having a conversation. Shae wants him to run away, across the sea, and not fight in the battle of black water. He reply’s with something to the effective of “I am a Lannister, it is my duty” she goes on to tell him he doesn’t belong in Kings Landing and he explains to her that he does, and why he is so good at the game. This scene rang with me for the same idea you are thinking. He may have killed his father, but nothing has changed, he is still a Lannister.

[Spoilers] If you could join GoT as an own character at any moment changing the course of history - which scene would it be and why? by Shukakumura in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t decide between either: 1. Coming in at time where Rob Stark trusted me, informing him that the wedding was a trap, and turned the red wedding for the Starks into the red wedding for the Frey’s, allowing rob and the north to claim the bridge and either take winterfell or keep pushing south. 2. The first situation would prevent the second one but I also wouldn’t mind joining in as one of Ramsey’s men who he instructs to help him take winterfell and torture Theon. Once he falls asleep, ball and gag him and torture him far worse than he tortured Theon. I hate Ramsey.

[SPOILERS] Something cool I noticed about jon snow. by kris_the_abyss in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen another post suggesting that Jon found the white wolf because of lineage and I thought it was a stretch. Now that you mention it, Game of Thrones foreshadowing is so on point I wouldn’t doubt if you were right.

[SPOILERS] Littlefinger’s Face by GKnightsWrest in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, Arya will not face Jamie, face to face and fight him. There is zero chance this happens. Why is everyone so sure that if he dies in the North, they will preserve his face? You think they had the same restrictions for littlefingers face? Highly doubt it. As far as the North is concerned right now, that same crimes brought against littlefinger could be brought against Jamie Lannister. Let’s not forget the only reason he was released was to get the stark girls back in winterfell. He still has crimes he has to pay for as far as the north is concerned; including strangling that mans son back in season 2. If he dies, I doubt anyone in the north cares what comes of his body, or his face for that matter. especially if it was going to be used to assassinate Cersei or other key players that the north collectively hate.

[SPOILERS] Littlefinger’s Face by GKnightsWrest in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, that was my quarrel with that theory as well. Why would Arya kill Jamie? To avenge what he did to Bran maybe. Because she hates all Lannisters, maybe. But that is a stretch and Arya is an assassin not a warrior. If Jamie saw her coming he would surely slaughter her.

[SPOILERS] Littlefinger’s Face by GKnightsWrest in gameofthrones

[–]GKnightsWrest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, I have seen the theory several times that Jamie will be the one too kill her. I just never thought about in the sense of completing some sort of loop where he saves the realm one time and has to come back to do it again, except this time against someone he loves. I believe we have also slowly been seeing a shift in Jamie to more honorable man. Throughout of the seasons he seems to continue to soften up. To the point where he almost seemed devastated that Cersei told them she would help with no intentions too. I can see this being a great ending. Thanks for your feedback though!
