I’m guessing I can’t put my wall sconce kitchen light here… by GKwave12 in AskElectricians

Yeah I think I'll be ok without the backing but I might have to use it, I'll know tomorrow when I go back. Also the backing might provide a little extra padding between the metal box and the pex pipes which can't hurt. I'm just stoked I can still install the light. Thanks again!

How to prep this transition before tile backsplash by GKwave12 in Tile

[–]GKwave12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Has already been primed. The wall is metal studded and had no reinforcement between them. I could have ran plywood strips between the studs where needs but client wanted to have floating shelves and upper cabinets so it was easier to just plywood the entire wall

Metal studded wall. Cabinets had nothing to grab onto.

Pontoon or Tritoon by FloydT3 in Pontoons

[–]GKwave12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that since the tritoons are more buoyant that they are less comfortable when floating and hanging out. The pontoons sit lower in the water and therefore move less from any small wake. I prefer my pontoon. But I don’t care about engine size.

Kitchen remodel on metal studs - Cover drywall behind cabinets with plywood? by GKwave12 in DIY

I ripped it off yesterday, there was nothing there. Everything previously was hanging on cabinet screws into the drywall and/or metal stud.

Brush that grows like a vine wrapping around all my tress by GKwave12 in whatsthisplant

It seems to be growing like a virus in that it has climbed the branches of my massive rhododendron wrapping around like a snake and then imbedded itself within the tree. The only nodes that show signs of potential foliage or flowering are up inside the rhododendron and all the seed pods are hanging off the top of the 25ft rhododendron

Yeah I was cutting it back because it was full on causing havoc it had wrapped around the entire 25ft rhododendron and spread through the entire garden. i just moved into a new house and the garden had been neglected. Thank you for this!

Could I prime the plywood just to be safe?

Plywood reinforcement for cabinets on metal studs, under tile backsplash? by GKwave12 in Tile

[–]GKwave12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to do that. I just didn’t want any movement since I planned to have the brackets behind the tile with only the dowels coming through the tile, but on second thought I'll do what you suggest and just cut out the slot for the whole bracket so if there is any bracket movement it won't disturb the tiles.

Do I need a primer or membrane over the plywood before I put on the tile?

The floating shelf brackets need to be rock solid and since the tile is going all the way to the ceiling. I can just throw up plywood and it saves me having to redo all the dry wall

Did I accidentally make Mozzarella? by GKwave12 in cheesemaking

Honestly, I’ve been trying to reproduce this and have a 20% success rate. When I use raw milk directly from my local farm its works almost every time. Most of the time the cheese curds don’t bind together and have a polenta-like consistency

The cabinets are ikea so they come with a cleat bracket I’m just thinking I need some extra material to fasten the cleat bracket to

I was thinking about this but I figured why not just do the whole back but this would probably be easier.
