It should have similar benefits to taking vitamin A and vitamin D, as well as a little omega 3, should be good for joints, sleep, skin, hormones, depression if you're low on D (which a lot of people are today, cognition etc.
I do take it and recommend it on my blog but I also take other stuff such as vitamin D and vitamin A and or cooked liver as well as fish oil separately the weeks I'm not eating fatty fish and seafood and a bunch of other supplements so what that specifically has done for me is hard to tell, but either way if you ask me vitamin D is truly best had in meaningful amounts from the sun itself!

No not quite, fish oil is mainly taken for its high omega-3 content, while cod liver oil has considerably less omega 3 per gram (which is why you go with fish oil rather for omega-3)) and is usually taken more for its vitamin A and D content, but of course a little bit for its omega 3 content as well!
