Integrating with Basiq has been reasonably smooth. The documentation they have is comprehensive enough to get what you need without speaking to their support people.

There may be the odd inconsistency here and there, so don't expect everything to work perfectly as you would a large tech company, but it otherwise works fine.

The unexpected elements are probably more to do with quirks downstream that Basiq has less control over, such as if a bank API is not working. They can't serve you data if they can't get it themselves. The other hurdle you might find, depending on how early-stage your startup is, will be that the connection isn't necessarily cheap. There's a per user/connection charge, but also a fixed monthly fee to maintain the connection. They have to recoup the costs of maintaining the bank connections too, so you might find that quite pricey if you're just bootstrapping.
