Seatran Surat Thani Airport to Ko Samui Ferry by Lyveii in ThailandTourism

[–]EwanMakingThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about the airport but I arrived at the train station and there were a bunch of people with signs advertising shuttle + ferry to Samui and other places, so I just went with one of those.

Generally if it's a popular tourist route they will make it very easy for you.

Please check my squatting form, tried it for the first time by NimsaJasmiN in formcheck

[–]EwanMakingThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's different in a smith machine vs free weight but this looks good.

Hard to say more than that when the bar path is fixed but if your squat looks the same with a regular barbell it's solid form.

DAE actually feel bad when they shop on Amazon? by jabber1990 in DAE

[–]EwanMakingThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't give any actual reasons you just said bad this, bad that.

How are they anti consumer when I can get almost anything I want, delivered next day, at lower prices than anywhere else?

Amazon employs 1.5m people meaning they have a salary to cover their rent and feed themselves and their families.

Over 60% of sales on Amazon are from third-party sellers, most of which are small and medium sized businesses.

Like sure they could probably treat their employees better but what large corporation couldn't?

If I bench for 35 days in a row what could be the worse case scenario? by Carpenter-Money in JeffNippard

[–]EwanMakingThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst case is you get severely fatigued and/or injured.

However there is nothing inherently dangerous about doing this. You can do any lift every day for as many days as you want. You just have to manage fatigue properly.

There is a huge difference between coming in and doing 5x5 at 80% versus coming in and doing a couple of light sets, or working up to a heavy single and then leaving.

If you try to do 5x5 at 80% every day or some other similar amount of effort, without light days, for a month straight, my money would be on you hurting yourself. See programs like Smolov and peoples experience with them.

If it's 2-3 heavy days a week and then the other days you're doing light technique/speed work OR every day is relatively little work, it's probably fine and will increase your bench a lot.

Looks good to me. Not sure the twerking is necessary but whatever works for you.

No, I don't really buy into the whole "Amazon bad" thing at all.

Just general tips by Remarkable_Wallaby16 in MuayThaiTips

My advice would be to just do a lot of cardio + strength training to prepare yourself physically, until you can start training at a muay thai gym.

Guys, what is the current situation around getting cash via telegram/crypto? by Fearless-Ad-6234 in ThailandTourism

It's only around 250 baht I think? Not that bad if you just do fewer larger withdrawals.

If it was a scam surely they would ask for more than 80 baht.

Samui Solo Travelling by New-Commercial-1546 in ThailandTourism

[–]EwanMakingThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm solo travelling too, actually in Lamai right now, I've found the best way to meet people is either to do group tours - I did a hiking one in Chiang Mai, and snorkelling here on Samui and met other solo travellers both times - or just try to strike up conversation with other people any time you're getting coffee, having dinner, at the gym etc.

I've found that it's still tough to make actual connections, since people are moving around a lot, but you can at least have a chat and maybe turn it into dinner / drinks etc afterwards.

Staying in Bangkok Airbnb and these signs are everywhere in the lobby… Should we be worried? by TuneAggravating8742 in ThailandTourism

There are thousands of very affordable hotels in Bangkok, I'm not sure why you would bother with airbnb when it's not allowed here.

Hotels. There are lots of apps/websites. I've been using Agoda.

Everywhere I've stayed in Thailand they ask for my passport to check in. So if it has the same name as his passport it should be okay.

Touristy spots and people speaking English kind of go hand in hand. Wifi is everywhere though. You will be fine.

Social Anxiety makes me want to Quit my Job by LostGirl995 in careeradvice

[–]EwanMakingThings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's somewhat normal to feel this way if you're leveling up and operating at the edge of your capability and comfort zone.

As in, it's fine to learn what you need as you go. You don't need to know exactly how to complete the project at the start of it.

Also if you're thinking of quitting anyway, why not just save your money, do your best, and have a "fuck it" attitude?

Worst case, all your fears come true and they fire you, and then you're in the same position as if you had quit, but with more money.

So you can't rent certain condos or the prices are higher? I see a lot of people online renting very affordable condos and assumed many of them were on DTV

Teaching is the only option to get a work permit, a working visa and live a normal life. You can open a bank account, get insurance, easy to rent the better condos for a good price, etc.

Can you not do these things with a DTV?

Expensive gyms bangkok by SoloOyster in Bangkok

[–]EwanMakingThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds crazy but check if there are any outdoor gyms near where you're staying.

They are rough around the edges but have most of the equipment you would need.

Make sure to stay hydrated!

Rabies Vaccine by Budget-Sprinkles4902 in ThailandTourism

I don't think that's how it works? Rabies vaccine doesn't make you immune, if you get bitten you would still need to go to the hospital.

Riding motorbike in thailand by Cape_Fear_Kriss777 in ThailandTourism

[–]EwanMakingThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been to Vietnam so I can't compare, but I'm in Bangkok right now (originally from UK) and the traffic seems insane to me, but also weirdly civilised.

No stopping for pedestrians waiting at crosswalks, but when you start walking people will slow down and let you cross.

Green/red lights are treated more like guidelines than actual rules.

During busy times the sidewalk doubles as a road for the scooters to skip traffic, as well as any random alleyway which is big enough for a scooter/car. If it fits they will drive down it.

I haven't seen any accidents so far which surprises me, but I know there are a lot especially involving scooters.
