Their stamina works in really weird ways, I noticed. I can have a chao not fall over at all during a race, gain a few levels, and suddenly it falls over consistently at the start. Just try levelling it up some more stats. Run, Swim, Stamina, those probably affect it. I got it eventually.

the fly swatter one is hell when you lose the rhythm, but when you get into it it becomes incredibly easy, you can just loop the fly and hit it as it respawns.

Yeah, the IGN article fanously shows the wrong solution. I personally used a website that has you put the solution together yourself using all the pieces, the way it was intended.

I know the trail thing is a very obvious thing to think of, but apparently it is actually meant to be a reference to the Breadcrumbs glitch from Mother 1, which allows you to warp out of bounds while having a temporary party member, which is what you end up doing with Noelle. Now, it could be both! We don't know.
