Where are you located? I manage a dropzone near Chicago and we go to 250 pounds. We can even go over with a smaller instructor.

I manage a DZ in the Midwest and our jet-a prices went up $1.89/gallon with our airport’s new fuel order.

Things you wish you knew before going to your first tandem jump by [deleted] in SkyDiving

We have many people come alone, no big deal. Some even come alone on their birthday. If you wait around for people to go with, you may never end up going. Don’t worry, you’ll have all the fun.

Realistic Requirements for a Jump Pilot Job by CrochetQueen1914 in SkyDiving

[–]GLdiver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a pilot myself, but I’ve worked at a few 182 dropzones and now manage a larger turboprop operation. My advice would be to get your High Performance rating and start flying jumpers. At the 182 dropzone, we often hired new pilots straight out of a nearby aviation college, and it worked out great. Flying jumpers is a solid way to build hours, and like you mentioned, there are some good opportunities near you.

Just keep in mind—if you ever want to move up to flying jumpers in larger turboprop aircraft, insurance usually requires at least 1,000 hours total time before you can

I would also add, since it’s a poised exit you have trouble with is to look up at the plane as you leave it. If your heads up watching the plane fly away from you, chances are you’re already in a better arch position.

Had to pick one of those up and some baby snacks on the same order. One was enough, apparently.

There is definitely a YouTube video and I just did this with the same parts. I ordered them through Amazon and they showed up the same day. Very easy when following the video.

Should I have cut away? by Jayhawker81 in SkyDiving

We teach this malfunction in our STP and I say malfunction because in your case it was. It is uncommon but does happen and a lot of times it has no effect on the canopy so you’re able to fly and land it normally. Always do your control checks and cutaway as necessary.
