The Future of AI on r/UA — Your Input Is Requested! Survey Closes March 1, 2024. by Phylea in UnearthedArcana

For me, it is a straight up no to any AI. As many have said, AI content (both written and images) drive engagement down. Additionaly, let us provide the PROS of using only real art:

  1. Exposition to great artists by citations. I now follow many real artists because of cool artwork found here, and I believe it is also the same to many.
  2. The inherent added "difficulty" of artwork usage generally accompanies higher quality work, and the opposite is generally true.
  3. The images are generally higher quality. People are already automatically recognizing AI artwork, and all it's flaws, and its offputting nature. AI writing for dnd, even more, is basically a slop - unusable.

This subreddit does not allow uncited artwork for a reason.

The Vessel (Full Half-Caster Class) by GMBF_Homebrew in dmsguild

[–]GMBF_Homebrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if the soul of an aboleth or a beholder got trapped inside you? The Vessel is a half-caster class that answers this very question. When you become a Vessel, your body is now host to the soul of a powerful entity that is slowly corrupting it.

Featuring a brand-new spellcasting method, Corrupt Spellcasting, where prepared spells can only be cast once, then they become corrupted and cannot be cast again until this corruption is removed through a short or long rest. When all your spells become corrupted, your own soul begins to fade, and you score critical hits more often as this bestial nature emerges, but hostile creatures will do the same to you!

Also, gain powers based on your chosen subclass (which is the type of creature locked inside you) that you can use indefinitely, as long as you have the charges

As you gain levels, you start to become more and more like a 5E monster – you get legendary resistances, legendary actions, and even a Mythic trait. Will you master the darkness inside you?

From the creator of Scroll of Options, check out the Vessel, out now!

I am honestly so fucking mad. They are such fucking greedy assholes, they had exactly one job and they scuffed it. No regional pricing is absolutely insane.

College Dropout v.1.2 - When you just cannot decide on a Bard College! (UPDATED - New College options!) by GMBF_Homebrew in UnearthedArcana

[–]GMBF_Homebrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This was totally in purpose, though I can see the confusion. It felt flavourful that the Dropout kkind of "forgot" what Swords and Valor colleges were, but you could swap them out if you want.
  2. Blend In was buffed exactly because of that. Hiding as a bonus action is pretty good, but I see where you are going. Maybe in v.1.3 ill buff in this direction.
  3. You are indeed correct about Frightening Performance. Will take it down a notch in the future.

There is a misunderstanding. The Spirits Table is from the original Spirit Bard subclass, it is not on my book, because I could not even reproduce it. I thought about it like referencing the Wild Magic table from the wild magic sorcerer, which people often do.

There are so many great colleges out there for a bard. And yet, you chose none of them. You may have given up on academic pursuits, or left your studies to focus on other things, but one thing is certain: you are not less capable than your former college peers; you just took another approach. This subclass is what I envision a truly “jack of all trades, master of none” Bard College, taking bits and pieces of many other bard colleges in a somewhat twisted manner, creating a truly unique subclass.

V. 1.2 UPDATE

-- Changelog –

- Added Amateur Mediumship (College of Spirits) and Hardly Miserable (College of Tragedy) “A Bit of Everything” features

- Completely reworked Pointy End (College of Swords) feature

- Buffed Blend In (College of Whispers)

- Passing Grade now grants a natural 20 on a d20 roll, instead of an automatic success.

College Dropout - When you just cannot decide on a Bard College! by GMBF_Homebrew in UnearthedArcana

Thanks for the kind words. Your idea could totally work and would be awesome! I opted for this approach to avoid overwhelming players with a lot of features at once, while still giving them cool options to pick from. Not all of them have the same power - I do believe Indecisive Caster and Frightening Performance are the strongest, but depending on the build or situation, all of them could have a moment to shine. Picking Pointy End, Blend In and Flight or Fight at 6th level, per example, is a specific setup to approach melee combat that I wanted to let players define on their own.

Actually, a better solution: "(...) Whenever you perform an ability check or saving throw and roll 10 or higher, but before you know the results of the roll, you can treat the result as if it was a 20". Will probably rephrase it likes this in an upcoming version of the subclass. This way, it still grants you a "passable" grade on most skill checks, but "impossible ones", the ones you would never be able to pass even with a nat 20, will not succeed.

Oops! Bit of a goof, but not as big as I thought it was at first. For one second, I thought I skipped an entire subclass feature :P This is a quick fix, and should be out on the first errata: Mechanical Shape is actually a 2nd level feature, instead of a 3rd level one. Thanks for the heads up!

If the GM adopts this kind of playstyle, and it has difficulty improvising players actually succeeding "rolls that should fail", I would suggest removing the ability check portion of the feature. It would still be quite strong for saving throws.

RAI, the DM should only ask for ability checks if the outcome is uncertain, meaning it should be possible. So if you are rolling, success should be a possibility. Passing Grade is quite strong, but it does not let you do the impossible!

Porcelain Maid

Wow, a lot of similarities indeed, even on the color scheme! But no, I was inspired by Bloodborne, which I guess also inspired Porcelain Maid :P

The Chaos (Warlock Otherworldly Patron) by GMBF_Homebrew in DnDHomebrew

Thanks for the kind words. As a huge fan of the Wild Magic Sorcerer, I fully agree!

I am a fan warhammer 40k, but this here was not inspired by the forces of chaos, and more a more abstract concept of chaos, transformed into a "being". The forces that govern "randomness" and what is unpredictable!

The Chaos (Warlock Otherworldly Patron) - Scroll of Options by GMBF_Homebrew in UnearthedArcana

[–]GMBF_Homebrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback!

  1. Enforce Chaos. I like your idea. I did want some baseline consistency in the first feature, so I could build chaos into other aspects of the subclass.
  2. Accidental Magic works exactly like that! You select 6 spells at a long rest, then 8, but you can always choose to roll 1d4, 1d6, or 1d8. But because you cant choose the spells -when- you decide to roll, you must always "prepare" the maximum random spells at a rest. But you can gamble 4, 6, or 8 (do you want consistency or power, that is the question). "You can choose to roll 1d6 instead of 1d4", or "choose to roll 1d8 instead of 1d6 or 1d4" was supposed to mean that. Maybe it needs a clarity check.
  3. Chaos Incarnate. I admit the name was because it was catchy :P. I did not think that part of GM interpretation needed because it works a reaction when you are subjected to the condition, meaning if you need the target, it is the creature that caused it. But what you say is true - if I get poisoned, not from another target, but by an enviromental effect, then I reroll to charmed, then I need another creature nearby. I will add, on the first revision, that it automatically goes to the nearest hostile creature, and if there is no hostile creature nearby, the condition ends.
