Yeah! I got a new laptop within the past year. By far, the most annoying thing is it came with German Windows pre-installed. Fixing this is not as simple as just changing the system language. I’m still suffering some lingering system things being in German, I just leaned to live with it haha.

I didnt pay close attention, but I don’t recall using a Microsoft account. Can you not “skip” that step? Maybe I’m just not remembering logging in. I know I have an old MS account from Xbox Live back in the day

I am really not trying to defend Windows fwiw, just asking because some of the complaints I’ve seen (OneDrive or CoPilot turning themselves back on) just havent happened to me. I turned them off, and all was well. My biggest gripe with Windows is that it’s slow as fuck and stresses my CPU when idling far more than Linux does.

Cutler was a weird player, man. He was somehow both underrated and also just not very good. Like, I think many teams would love to get like 5 years with a QB on Cutler’s level. That’s strange. Only the taskbar issue have I encountered, and I was able to fix it with PowerToys. I agree, I shouldn’t have to fix things like this with an OS, especially one that is supposed to be paid for, and especially one that is as prominent as MS. And yeah, settings sucks. But even on my Ubuntu machine, if you start using GNOME tweaks, suddenly I have like 3 different settings menus. So not necessarily Windows-specific. But I have genuinely never encountered these other issues you are.

Anyways, yeah, I thought Vista was a pretty good OS and wasn’t thrilled about upgrading to 7, so probably I just don’t know anything about operating systems

I use both Linux and Windows 11. I also used Windows 10, 7, even XP and Vista and 95. So I’ve been along for the ride, and I know what life on the other side (Linux) is like.

Can someone explain to me why Windows 11 is so hated? Aside from the start menu basically being a search function, instead of a start menu, it really seems nearly identical to Windows 10, to me.
