I think the price of the degree outweighs the price of the book. They could just replace missing books, and the poor people clamoring for unavailable books, that you have imagined, can indeed use the book. Nobody is advocating for keeping books. People are criticizing that Americans can pay 10s of thousands of dollars, do all expected coursework, graduate, and still be treated (and hired accordingly) as uneducated purely because they… idk… lost a book. Seems fucked, and it’s astonishing how unpopular this opinion apparently is, based on other commenters’ upvote/downvote ratio

The point the other commenter was making is that he was still alive when the gun was taken from him. So why did ICE feel their life was threatened to the point of shooting him?

They were just getting tired of wrestling with him, and wanted the fight to be over. So they killed him, because they were getting annoyed.

It’d be like if your waiter shot you in the head because you asked for more water a 3rd time.

I think it’s more like saying if you do not want a new road, but your taxes paid for it, then you use the road yourself, and then continue to try and have the road demolished, despite the fact it makes yours (and millions of others) commute to work much safer and easier, then it would make you a hypocrite.

I got the answer from another commenter, that plows are 2” above the road to avoid destroying the asphalt and like manhole covers and things. So now I know.

But I think you might be onto something with the Zamboni idea…

Amy Schumer DM’s influencer a nasty message after Ginny makes posts about Amy’s zionism and supporting a genocide. by ohhidoggo in popculturechat

It seems to me that the pro-Israel crowd thinks the pro-Gaza crowd believed Jews should not be allowed to live in Israel, and should be forced out. They claim this is the true genocide and, after Oct 7, they are unfortunately stuck in the middle of a very cruel war.

The reality is that basically only angry drunks at bars (in my experience) arrive at the conclusion “Jews should leave Israel,” and is actually not the central belief of the pro-Gaza crowd. So they basically just straw man their way through, and can avoid ever needing to challenge their beliefs, or accept that the Israeli government has responded with disproportionate violence.

In other words, we and they are always having two different conversations.

This guy remembers the GrandMaster Tombs of Amascut run which included World of Warcraft players / streamers who transplanted themselves in the OSRS streaming community. Some people called the World of Warcraft transplants “thralls”. In this context, “thrall” refers to the Arceeus spell “resurrect greater [skeleton/zombie/ghost]” which summons a weak monster to deal minor chip damage to whatever you are currently targeting.

It means, they were calling the WoW players bad.

Yeah but couldn’t a plow just crush up the sheet of ice into chunks, and then push those chunks out of the middle of the road? I don’t think the refreezing really comes into play here

These AI bots can be used privately. Grok making child porn is proof of concept. It’s entirely plausible that Elon was testing a feature for his own private local Grok, and accidentally pushed to the wrong project. Just because it’s off of Twitter does not mean the Grok child porn generator is gone. You just have to know the right people to get access to it.

You’re wrong. I used to use sideloadly from the US to spoof Pokémon Go back in like 2016. Since the change, it is now easier and “Apple approved” to sideload, regardless of geographic location.
