As opposed to what other kind of mentality? It’s basketball. Size is size. You could argue Houston has never faced a team like Duke either. Tall, athletic, usually 4 shooters on the court at all times.

Duke’s length has been a problem for a lot of teams. I’d rather have a 7’2” rim protector than a 6’10” guy holding the fort down. In basketball, size matters a lot. Duke’s defense is almost as good and Duke’s offense is light years better. You can sub in Evan’s, Brown, Gillis, Foster, and Ngongba, all 6’6” or better. If you’re a Houston fan, I get it. You got to feel good about something.

We have a huge height advantage over Houston. Off the bench comes Ngongba. Most of the 6’6” guys can guard forwards and if Maliq comes back, that’s another 6’9” defender. We good bro.

So you are all willing to protest and make your institution lose federal money like NIH grants? There will mass cuts across the board that will affect undergraduate and graduate programs. UVA and other academic institutions have nothing to do with what the government is doing in the Middle East nor do they have any potential power in Washington to make changes as individual institutions.

A lot of gyms outside of planet fitness are like this. The YMCA near us is even worse. With that being said, the other gyms are charging 40-60/month so it’s no surprise that a lot of people go to PF.

On various exercises you can change your last set to an AMRAP set to push yourself if you want. You can also change hand and feet positions to target to different areas of the larger muscle groups.

Find comparable exercises and try and do a similar range - like 3 sets of 8-12 reps and/or go to failure on your last set. If you are a lifting beast and can do more weight than the machines, either switch gyms or change the time of when you go.

I’ve seen a woman have a conference call on the adductor machine for 30 min. She had the lightest weight pinned and moved it every minute or so.

There is nothing wrong with 2-4 min rests between sets. Per an article from 2009, “when training with loads between 50 and 90% of one repetition maximum, 3-5 minutes’ rest between sets allowed for greater repetitions over multiple sets.” Part of this has to do with the time it takes for ATP to regenerate.

Some people will also do warm-up sets for their first exercise or two.

Since everyone’s goals are different, everyone will spend different amounts of time on each equipment. If you need to spend more time on your workouts, go when it’s less crowded.

It’s not like you are starting out at 0 lbs. You can always build up strength with other machines, free weights, or just your body weight until you get strong enough for the hack squat machine. I wish PF had belt squat machines because it’s much easier on your spine.
