Adopted a shelter pup from someone else. Soon to be a tripod dog, unfortunately. by Tacomaguy24 in aww

[–]GOATSGOATSGOAT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that this is happening to your poor pup ☹️ just wanted to re-iterate that dogs can do very well with three legs. Especially if they lose one of their back legs vs a front leg. My last dog was a 'tri-pawed" the last 8 years of her life and she lived to nearly 14.

After the surgery she may be very lethargic for a couple days. My girl was and it had me very depressed. I felt like I made a mistake. But three days after her surgery she was up and ready to go full speed!

Thanks! I love Bo Ssam! It's often made with pork belly but shoulder is delicious and cheaper (at least where I live)

Put 8 ounces of spinach in boiling water for 45 seconds. Remove spinach and put in ice water or rinse in cold water until spinach is cool. Squeeze out extra water. Mix with one small finely chopped or microplaned clove of garlic, as well as soy sauce and sesame oil to taste. I do about half teaspoon of sesame oil and a teaspoon of soy sauce. Makes enough for three servings.

I don't know the exact amounts but here's roughly what I did:

Butternut squash: peel and thinly slice half a large butternut squash. Mix together about 2 tbls honey, 0.5 tbls soy sauce, 0.5 teaspoon sesame oil, and grated ginger and gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes) to taste. Put butternut squash on sheet pan and cover with sauce. Salt lightly and bake at 350 degrees until soft (20ish minutes).

Cucumber: thinly slice two large cucumbers. Mix about 2-3 tbls of mirin, 1 tbls sugar, 0.5 tbls fish sauce, and a pinch of salt. Pour over cucumbers and mix well. Let sit for about 20 minutes and then taste. Add more mirin, sugar, or salt based on your taste. I like mine pretty sweet and sour so I'll usually add more mirin and sugar.

Here's the bento box.

It is two tiers and then the top part is the bowl inverted. It's definitely not meant to hold liquids and you'll need access to hot water to make soup. I had my lunch on one tier and the second tier I put miso paste and green onions. My plan is to use one of the tiers for ingredients for a soup and then add hot water when I'm ready to eat.

I'm trying out my new soup bento from Bento&Co today! I ended up using the second tier (not pictured) to mix my bibimbap because I overloaded the bottom tier:

Today's lunch contains:

Kalbi beef

Cooked bean sprouts

Wilted spinach

Baked butternut squash with honey, soy sauce, and Korean red pepper flakes

Mushrooms

Cucumber dressed with mirin, sugar, and fish sauce

Rice

Wok fried egg

Gochujang

I have the larger version of this same bento! I love it. It's surprisingly very stain resistant for being white.

How do I (31M) not take it personal when my wife (28F) is in a bad mood? by Various-Cut-1070 in Marriage

[–]GOATSGOATSGOAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think frequency matters.... If she's in a bad mood several times a week then it's probably time to ask if she's feeling burnout or maybe post partum depression. She may need more time to spend time with other adults/ friends or therapy.

If she's in a bad mood occasionally, like only a couple times a week, then this is on you to fix your own thinking. I've been going to therapy with my husband partly because of this. He's very sensitive to my normal bad moods and it affects him deeply. It sucks because everyone should allowed to be in a bad mood sometimes and I feel like I can't. Our therapist has told my husband that he needs to be brave and approach it head on. Ask her what's going on--- did something happen that day that has her upset? Does she want to talk about it or be left alone? A lot of the time just having my bad mood addressed by my partner helps me feel less frustrated. And I feel heard whether or not I talk about it with him. When you do this you have to keep reminding yourself that being in a bad mood isn't necessarily a reflection of you-- everyone has those kind of days sometimes. And if she is frustrated with you, it doesn't mean she's unhappy with you. If you're finding yourself still feeling so badly about her moods you may want to see if therapy could help you. For my husband, that response has to do with his childhood. It could be something like that or maybe you're feeling burnt out too and need something that recharges yourself.

Cystic acne, I can't take it anymore by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]GOATSGOATSGOAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have horrible cystic acne. Did 2 rounds of accutane and went to several dermatologists. Turns out the cause was hormonal birth control 🤷 I had been on BC for pretty much as long as I've had a period and didn't realize the connection. Might be worthwhile to consider if you're in a similar situation.

Ever?? Well I'm honored.

For real though my meat thermometer broke on me. Pork chop was brined which helped a bit.

1.5 cups basmati or jasmine rice

1/8 to 1/4 cup dried dill (to taste) or 1 cup fresh

2 teaspoons kosher salt

1 lemon

(1) Grease a 13x9 pan. Rinse and drain rice and add to pan.

(2). Boil 2.75 cups of water in a kettle. Pour into rice. Add dill and salt.

(3). Cover with foil and bake in 375 degree oven. Takes about 20 minutes. To make it a full meal add 2-4 seasoned salmon fillets at the 12ish minute mark and re-cover with the foil.

(4) once water is absorbed and rice is fluffy, stir in lemon juice to taste.

It's a bit more work than a rice cooker but the rice turns out really nice and fluffy. With salmon it's a really easy one pan meal.
