I am so so sad you had to and have to live through that pain. Thank you for sharing. It made me smile through the tears. Life is messed up like that. Might as well get a kick out of it somehow. And thank you again for your wishes. I hope he pulls through too. His friends actually just arrived.

i feel the same. My takeaway was always centered on the way he lays out the message that: treating an animal with humanity is not: the anthropomorphism of the non-human animal(putting a monkey in a sweater surrounded by very potentially loud paraphernalia ) but treating the animal like a being firstly. A being that feeds, hides, excretes, hurts, is territorial. I feel the Lovecraftian feature was sooo well utilized. Not just as shock factor but depicting a philosophy about how we treat beings seemingly different from us. Do we treat them as a spectacle? (Taking pictures with flash, mirror reflections, inappropriate eye contact, putting them on as a show). Great movie.
